It was Dee Dee Ramone(Sep.18, 1952 - June 5, 2002), who wrote most of the Ramones- songs; all those classics from the late 70ties, but also many songs in the 90ties, after he had quit the band. Without DeeDees contribution Punk Rock would never have had that powerfull breakthrough in the legendary year of 1977: The first Ramones- Gig in London (Roundhouse, July 6th 1976) was the initial blast for a whole generation of new english bands! The same in the US: without the Ramones no Black Flag, no Germs, no Misfits, no Skatepunk or HC, not even Grunge-Rock and probably no Stephen King and no Simpsons...Rock..n..Roll being reinvented by someone who didn..t even know notes and chords or the difference between verse and chorus... ".
