David L Cook is known as one of the most premier artists in the field of Christian Country music. In 1997 David became the number one selling Christian Country artist in the United States with sales reaching over one million mark. This record has yet to be passed by another artist in the genre.

David L Cook is known as one of the most premier artists in the field of Christian Country music. In 1997 David became the number one selling Christian Country artist in the United States with sales reaching over one million mark. This record has yet to be passed by another artist in the genre.
David finds himself involved not only in music but the field of television as well. He is a multi Emmy award winner. He has written and recorded many television theme songs. His latest Emmy was for his involvement in the televison series, "New South Crossings." He wrote, produced and performed the theme song for the series.
David's history can also be charted starting with his family roots. He was the baby of Grand Ole Opry legends, The Cook Family Singers. Upon their retirement in 1980, David found himself in a solo career. He moved temporarily from the Christian music field and had a very successful career on the dance charts. In 1984 David returned to his Christian roots recording his first solo album, "Come Follow Me."
In 1997 David signed with the number one Christian Country music label, Mountainview Records. It was here that he recorded his album "In the Middle of it All" The album was the number one album of the year and even garnered David a Dove and Grammy nomination for Christian Country Album of the Year in 1999.
David has had 24 number one hits and 32 songs to hit the top ten charts. This included both secular and Christian music. To date David has been inducted into 5 Halls of Fame.
David's alter ego, Mortermer Crabbottom has received the Christian Comedian of the Year a precedented 6 times back to back from various different organizations.
