As a songwriter and performer, Dave Turner has developed his style in part by combining the traditions of his musical heroes including Elton John and Tom Waits. Dave is a prolific writer of words and music, plays the piano with power and passion, and has a strong, soulful voice.

His most recent album, Could Have Talked All Night, was released November 16, 2007. Dave considers this self-produced record his first true professional effort. Recorded at Collapseable Studios in Asheville, North Carolina, its captivating songs were inspired by empty pockets and starry skies, Kentucky bourbon, late-night diners, old lovers, Blue Ridge mountains, California dreams, desperation, roadside shrines, hangovers, unsent letters, beer joints, bar buddies, staying put and getting away. Dave self-produced the album with creative consultation from his friend and teacher Chuck Lichtenberger.

The album was recorded live with Dave on piano and vocal, Michael Libramento on bass, and Joe Buzzelli on drums. Only backing vocals by Stephanie Morgan (of stephaniesid) and Dave were added later.

One of Dave's favorite quotations is from Thomas Wolfe in Look Homeward, Angel:

"We are the sum of all the moments of our lives - all that is ours is in them: we cannot escape or conceal it."

In fall 2007, Dave was one of eight finalists selected from across the United States in the North Carolina Songwriters Co-op 10th Annual Song Contest with two songs from the Could Have Talked All Night album, Never Meant To Stay and Amber River.

Dave lives in Asheville with his wife, Mary, and their three children, Sam, Grace and Ben. While he continues in his job by day as a freelance copywriter, editor and author to support his family, he remains active as a performing and recording artist. He is working on his third album.
