Bio
Dave Gertler is an acoustic singer/songwriter who has emerged out of the Sydney funk/soul scene of the mid-noughties, having started out as founding bass player of the exciting Latin/fusion band, Watussi.
Dave Gertler is forging a unique style of his own, which revolves around hooky (and kooky) melodies and choruses, rainbow-like harmonies, and the fierce musicianship of the band members he shares the stage with.

"The music of Dave Gertler is both strangely familiar and unique. Each song is at once memorable in the same way that a Beatles song might be memorable; on first hearing, the melodies instantly sit well in the ear. However, while the songs are certainly catchy - as if you’ve heard them somewhere before - each one is truly unique and original. The music is uplifting: sometimes sad, sometimes humorous but always unflinchingly optimistic. Dave’s style incorporates a wide range of influences without sounding like a mere collage of his favourite artists. There is Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Funk, Jazz and maybe even a little country, but all are perfectly blended to form Dave’s distinctive musical voice. He describes his own music as “Indie-Schmaltz”, and this may be an apt description, but while there is humour and schmaltz, there is also intelligence and a lot of heart."

Hello,
This is just a ploy to get more of my facebook friends to follow my reverbnation newsletter. See, I feel that facebook is more for things like sharing old video clips of Style Council and new-jack-swing-era classics, and broadcasting stuff like "I just ate some porridge", rather than unabashed band promotion. At least, that's how it feels t...
