Louisville, KY birth a new breed of songs in 26-year-old singer/songwriter Darnell Levine. Journal Entries EP is Levine's third release, a new six-song precursor to a 2009 sophomore album currently untitled. With a fresh sound void of the today’s recycled trends, Levine takes pride in writing and producing a majority of his debut album (We Gon’ Use What We Got, 2006) as well as fronting Journal Entries on piano and vocals. Darnell Levine talks about his latest release below: 

“After my first album I had writer's block really bad, and it freaked me out. My imagination could think up things fictional stuff easy, but I wanted more. So I turned to my journals. I decided that if I didn’t want to be a one album wonder, I'd have to go all the way. So I became very selfish and wrote alot of "me" songs, the cold hard facts of the matter. Journal Entries is just that, one big serious joke. I’m moody, what can I say.”

This new set of songs, recorded in Levine's current home Nashville, TN, have quickly garnered the singer/songwriter with new found respect with positions on Music Choice TV, Yahoo Music, and a recent '08 Starbucks Summer Music Tour. With Nashville engineering partner and bassist Jerry Navarro, Levine completed Journal Entries in just four days. “I'm very,very proud out it, so much so that I think anyone who hears will be equally as proud!” What you hear is what you get with Darnell Levine, and what you get is very good.
