Bio

Darcel has come a long way to the blues. She started singing with her sisters in Orange County (Calif.) many years ago. Then real life intervened. But she is now pursuing her love of the blues, and music in general, with a vengeance. Her first album, "Shades of Me," will be available soon. Here are a couple of the original cuts from that record.

About

Music has always been a central part of my life.  I grew up singing with my sisters around the living room, adding harmony parts to what every my sisters were singing. My sisters Roxan, Denise, and I sang together as the Hunter Sisters in various gigs in Orange County, California.  We even got "gonged" off the Gong Show (quite unfairly, if I may say so now . . .), singing behind an Elvis impersonator.

I  later joined a country-rock band in Orange County called Tex Humble.  We thought we would make the big time, but it wasn't meant to be (at least not then).

Many years went by, and I resumed singing with a vocal harmony group (InVoice) in the northern California foothills.  From that I have taken off on my own, first with my niece Misty and nephew George in the Family Affair band, and later solo, both in an acoustic format with my husband Pat, and with my band "Off The Record".

We are putting the final touches on my first CD release, which should be available in late spring, 2009.  If you keep checking back, we'll have more tracks from the album.  We hope you enjoy, and thank you for listening!

Just a note to let you know about the songs posted:

"The Searcher" was written by my husband Pat and me. It was written about my niece Misty.  We are so close that we are more like sisters than niece and aunt.  She is in Nebraska now, and I miss her dearly.

"How Do You Feel About Love" was written by our dear friend David Harper, who himself is a great singer, songwriter and drummer.  He now lives in Nashville.

There are more to come, so tune in every now and then to see what's next.

Darcel
