A Community Project - to raise money for Breast Cancer Research while raising the Awareness of the Arts Description Kelly Martinez from Lakewood Colorado is launching a project called The Art of Community. It is about bringing people together as a community to raise money for cancer research while raising awareness of the arts. I'm not just talking art, but rather all the arts - music, theatre, writing, comedy, dance, etc. The goal is to have an event in which there is an expose of the arts - stand-up comedians, poetry readings, short skits, dance troupes, a concert with at least 3 bands, and an art auction. The money raised will go to breast cancer research. This is a personal quest to honor my mother's memory, who passed away 20 years ago from breast cancer. It had an incredible impact on my life. I'm honored to have so many people who want to create this with me. The event will be held April 29th, 2012 at Green Mountain High School. We currently have several performers already lined up, and artists donating artwork for the auction.
