Весной 2008 года в группу вернулся Григорий Алексанян, один из основателей Dairy High. Не медля была записана новая песня Love Speed Death, которая стала очередным синглом выпущенным через Reds Under the Bed, собственный лейбл группы. Dairy High поделили стороны сингла с Джедом Фэйр (Jad Fair), музыкантом из Остина, штат Техас, не нуждающимся в представлении. Пластинку можно приобрести на концертах за 100 рублей.

News Flash - Single

Dairy High recorded a brand new song called Love Speed Death. This self-produced song features Greg Alexanyan, Dairy High' original drummer who rejoined us in 2008. We wrote this song together during one of the first rehearsals early this year. Love Speed Death was put to 'tape' on April 12 and mixed on April 18 at Gigant Record in Moscow which is as good as SDV in Riga to be honest as long as you know what you're doing.

Love Speed Death became a part of a seven inch split single which Dairy High shared with Jad Fair (Austin, TX, USA). The numbered limited edition 7 inch picture disc is available at shows or just write us an email. Now listen!

В конце 2007 года была завершена работа над дебютным альбомом. Закончить альбом группе помог Грег Хэйвер (Greg Haver), британский продюсер, известный своими работами с такими артистами, как Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals, Melanie C и Gorky's Zygotic Mynci. Выпуск альбома запланирован на 10 Августа 2008 года.

We're happy to let you know that we completed our debut album. The self-titled album would feature 10 songs. Six new songs were recorded and produced by Greg Haver (worked with Manics, Super Furry Animals and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci) and the other 4 were produced by Vladimir Komarov. The album will be released on CD by Reds Under the Bed.

Graeme Jefferies of the Cakekitchen has been writing and recording his own music for over 20 years. He has toured all over the world and released his material on such notable labels as Homestead, Merge, Flying Nun, Hausmusik and even Warner Brothers and RCA. Starting young, Graeme was part of the early 80s home recording boom championed by Flying Nun Records and enjoyed considerable success with his bands “The Cakekitchen“ and “This Kind of Punishment“. A lot of larger American Indie bands (such as Pavement or Yo La Tengo) acknowledged their appreciation of the early 80’s New Zealand scene and this had a direct effect upon the more hugely successful late 80s, early 90s American Indie Scene.

Группа Dairy High – одна из первых русских инди-групп, унаследовавших традиции американской альтернативной рок-сцены середины 80-х – конца 90-х и откликнувшихся на вторжение бритпопа.

Группа образовалась в 1999 году. Не записывая демо, Dairy High репетировали и давали живые концерты более года. Музыканты играли, в основном, в небольших клубах и никогда не выезжали за пределы Москвы. Первой песней, которую группа записала и выпустила, стала Zralok (что означает «акула» в переводе с чешского). Песня вышла на трех разных сборниках в 2001-2002 годах. В 2002-м, Dairy High распались. В результате чего образовалось несколько других коллективов с разной музыкальной стилистикой. Лето 2003 года было ознаменовано появлением новой песни the Most Expensive Crash на сборнике Radio the Boat. Несмотря на это, до конца 2005 года группа оставалась в тени, не давая концертов и не записываясь.

2006 год был богат событиями. В Августе группа отправилась в Ригу (Латвия), чтобы принять участие в загородном фестивале независимой музыки Zaljumballe, а также выступить в популярном Рижском клубе DEPO. Dairy High завершили поездку в студии Sound Division, записав 4 новых песни, включая обновленную Most Expensive Crash, а также свою интерпретацию песни Without a Song, популярного шлягера 30-х годов прошлого века. Продюсером записи выступил Владимир Комаров, музыкант Hot Zex и Punk TV.

В начале 2007 года Dairy High выпустили виниловый сплит-сингл, стороны которого группа поделила с легендой новозеландской независимой сцены the Cakekitchen. Сингл был выпущен ограниченным тиражом в 520 экземпляров. Его все еще можно купить на концертах или же заказать напрямую у группы по почте.

Band Bio

Dairy High were among the first Russians to inherit traditions of American alternative rock music scene of mid 80s early 90s and the Britpop invasion.

The Russian group formed in 1999. Dairy High took the unusual step of rehearsing and gigging for well over a year before recording even a demo tape. They mostly played small venues and never performed outside of Moscow. While not generally classified as a shoegazing band, Dairy High did share a tendency to blend poppy melody with loud guitars.

The first song which they released was called Zralok (the Czech for shark). Zralok appeared to muted reaction on three compilations in 2001-2002. Dairy High split in 2002 when band members went to pursue different musical directions giving birth to several other acts. The year 2003 was marked by a release of Radio the Boat compilation which featured Most Expensive Crash, a new song by Dairy High. However, the studio sessions came to a halt and there were no live shows.

In the late 2005 the band was revived. Four new songs were recorded in Riga (Latvia) to coincide with Dairy High' first ever festival appearance at Zaljumballe, a local festival of alternative music. The new songs were produced by Vladimir Komarov of Hot Zex and Punk TV.
