Jus Love is music. This statement may seem arrogant, but upon further inspection it will undoubtedly prove accurate. Lamar J. Smith has been facsinated by music since a young age. A prolific writer since the second grade, Jus Love parlayed this gift into a penchant for songwriting that branches across Hip-Hop, Rock, R&B, and Pop. JL's love of the written word and musical prowess have made him a hip-hop one stop shop of sorts. His proficiency with guitar, musical theory, and numerous music maker software programs give JL a versatility that is the envy of most producers. Along with his immense talent behind the boards, JL has continued writing, distinguishing himself as one of the Chicago undergrounds most talented up and coming MC/producers.
Illuminate Mics is a writer. Straight up and down, plain and simple. Since the age of 13, Nathaniel Marshall has clenched the Bic like his life depended on it. Illuminate has indeed used his pen to make a blunt impact upon the worlds of hip-hop and poetry. He is a published poet, most recently featured in the April 2007 release, The Spoken Word Revolution: Redux. He has performed his poems and songs at venues and universities across the nation, including the Nuyorican Poets' Cafe, University of Wisconsin, and the Printers' Row Book Festival. Illuminate Mics has used his writing to create a persona all his own, simultaneously arrogant and vulnerable, but always true.
Together, these two artists form the hip-hop tandem of Daily Lyrical Product. Their brand of hip-hop is positive without being corny, street without being vulgar, intelligent without being inaccessible. Hardworking, these two are readying their second album within a year. Their new album, Jus Ill is a strong showing of growth for the two young artists over their first album, The Product. The album includes production from Jus Love, SCP, and Jared F. The album's features include singer JMC, rapper Genesis Silva, among many others. On June 15th the world will witness hip-hop without the gimmicks or frills of today's marketplace. Music that is simply, Jus Ill.
