At the Hill House, Showtime is 7:30PM The Mendocino Stories and Music Series proudly presents Dan Newton, “Daddy Squeeze”, on Saturday, January 26. Dan draws influences for songs and tunes from such sources as French Musette, Gypsy Swing, Cajun, Jug band, Tex-Mex and Cumbia, and calls this global gumbo “ethnoclectic” music. In Dan Newton’s hands the ungainly accordion becomes an instrument of remarkable poise and grace. Music starts at 7:30PM at the Hill House of Mendocino. Dan's fresh approach to the much-maligned squeeze-box and his mind-boggling repertoire of both original and traditional material will change the mind of the most hardened accordion skeptic. “Daddy Squeeze” entertains and enlightens his audiences with stories and colorful anecdotes about the accordion and his experiences while making a living playing the instrument he loves. Of interest to all dancers: Dan will be joined by a host of local Lark Camp stars for a set of mixed dances after the concert, including French, Tango, Cajun and Cumbias. Bring your dancing shoes for a one-time only event!! All Ages Welcome! Doors open at 6:30PM for dinner and full bar. Special reserved table seating - $20. $12 general admission in advance, $15 at the door. Advance tickets available by calling Pattie at 937-1732. www.mendocinostories.com/events.html
