Chicken Scratch, brought to you by Christophers Jeffers and Zielke (Smoke, Bolsa), has officially opened, withstanding any early-in-the-week rain-away efforts by Mother Nature. Chef Tim Byres blackboard menu boasts from-scratch comforts like skillet-fried and rotisserie chicken in various presentations, as well as homey sides like collard greens, mashed potatoes and the like. The restaurant is bright and cozy, combining a Southern diner vibe with that of Grandma's kitchen -- though our grandma kept her wooden swing out back. But the hits just keep coming out on the patio, shared with no-mixology bar The Foundry. There are patio games, a stage for bands and tons of seating (exposed and shaded) for the summer months to come.
