Cosmic Puffin became a reality on Good Friday 2008 when the first band, Death by Desire, kicked off 3 days of live music (22 bands plus dj's and other entertainers) for charity. Ticket price for the whole weekend was a ridiculous £10!  Yep, that works out at about 50p a band! Although the weather wasn't on our side (it's the 1st time I've woken up at a festival and got involved in a snowball fight!) there was a steady trickle of people arriving throughout the weekend and by Sunday there were probably about 200. As all the bands played for nothing and everyone else (Absolute Sound and Light - PA, Ministry of Loud - M.C.'s and DJs extraordinaire, Paul and all the staff at Mersea Outdoors and an army of helpers) donated their time and equipment, every penny from ticket sales went to charity. We managed to raise about £1400 in the face of blizzards. The vibe throughout the whole weekend was incredible and the mix of music meant there was something for everyone. Punks digging the blues! Whatever next? There is definitely a Cosmic Puffin 2 at Easter (10th-13th April 2009) with the same objective as the first one... To raise as much money for charity as possible while having as much fun as possible! If you were there last year, you will know what a great time everyone had, if you weren't then shame on you, you missed a pukka weekend. Make sure you are there this year.
