About

Copperwound logo

Copperwound was formed in August of 2005, and like all of us, they've grown and changed with our times. The vision, sound and commitment remain true.

The name "Copperwound" (pronounced ’wound’, rhymes with ’sound’) describes the sound of their music, both literally, and figuratively. The copper-wound strings they stretch across their acoustic guitars is the birthing place for almost every song they write. Only after the music has developed do they introduce it to amps and effects. In this manner, they can stay true to their sound, spirit and foundation.

After their first performance, in which they played the slot for a defunct band, the calling for their music was quickly apparent. Club owners started contacting them, asking to schedule. Over the next year they've performed dozens of shows, picking up fans and gathering momentum, while making time to get into the studio and record their first album There Are No Dogs

Copperwound plays shows at some of the hottest venues in Dallas, including Club Dada, Lakewood Bar & Grill, Poor David’s Pub,The Green Elephant. Copperwound was also featured on a radio show at KBIG radio in October of 2006, where the DJ said 3.1 million listeners had tuned in for the show. This was the first time their demo CD, consisting of four tracks, was featured on-air. Copperwound has also performed prime slots at White Rock Lake Festival (Dallas) for three years running. There is no doubt the band is picking up steam. It’s not happening so rapidly they lose their hats, but it is happening quickly enough to notice.

There’s a lot going on behind the scenes, and they’ve expanded their crew to help them with the peripheral work so they can concentrate on what they came here for: the music. And with that peace of mind, they’re able to focus and maintain their creative energy, following the one cardinal law by which Copperwound are governed...   Keep it copper.
