Bio
Singer/songwriter Justin VanHaven has been writing and recording under the moniker Summer and Starlight since 2006. A Grand Rapids, MI resident who has spent time studying and playing music and recording both in his hometown and at an artist's colony in Martha's Vineyard, MA, Justin's music draws comparisons to Ryan Adams, Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), and Bright Eyes, and he's fine with that.
Summer and Starlight has released 3 recordings, a first self-titled album which is out of print, the "Hey, Rube E.P." which was entirely performed, recorded, and produced by Justin, and the new "Goodbye Blue E.P." which features his current live lineup of Justin Bardolph on drums and Brian Ferwerda on bass.
About
Justin started 'Summer and Starlight' in 2006? as a myspace for songs he wrote as a 'side project' while playing in Menage (an instrumental band from Grand Rapids.) After Menage fizzled he continued to record under the Summer and Starlight moniker, mostly doing his own production and instrumentation, first releasing the self-titled Summer and Starlight and the Hey Rube E.P. Now playing with a full band it is evolving into something new yet again.
