Bio
Mark Kano is a singer-songwriter from Greensboro, NC. His first band Athenaeum, was signed to Atlantic Records towards the end of the 90's. The late Billboard Magazine editor Timothy White called Athenaeum's album "Radiance", one of the best albums of 1998 in his "Music To My Ears" column. "Radiance" went on to sell over 100,000 copies and produced the top ten Modern Rock hit "What I Didn't Know". Many years later Mark Kano has reemerged as a solo artist with another stellar collection of songs appearing on his debut solo record "Walking On Broadway". Kano's distinctive baritone voice and thoughtful lyrics soar above a melodic maze of bitter-sweet love songs. Available at www.markkano.com
About
"Walking On Broadway," the long awaited debut solo record from Mark Kano, the lead singer of Athenaeum, is now available. This is the first collection of new songs written by Kano since Athenaeum's 2001 self-titled effort on Atlantic Records. The self-produced eight song disc was mixed by Gavin MacKillop (Toad The Wet Sprocket, Goo Goo Dolls, Athenaeum) and recorded at various studios throughout 2008 with the help of fellow musicians Nic Brown, Snuzz, Mike Garrigan and Sam Frazier, and features Kano's best songs to date. "Walking On Broadway" picks up where we last left Athenaeum, a band that helped create a brand of authentic pop rock that continues to live somewhere just outside the radar of mainstream music. Instantly accessible yet sophisticated and memorable, "Walking On Broadway" promises to please fans of the alternative rock genre.
