Jake Haldenwang is a 13-year-old blues rock guitarist, vocalist and song writer. Jake delivers searing guitar solos with an intensity that belies his youth. His performances combine a variety of powerful influences with a soulful feeling that is uncanny for someone so young. Jake started playing the guitar when he was 11-years-old and was performing live by the time he was 12. At age 13, Jake is now a seasoned stage performer who plays a brand of “ scorchin’ blues ” that is a style all his own, combined with his undeniable stage presence makes Jake is a must see artist. After an evening with Jake, you will know why they call him “Smokin’ Jake Haldenwang”.
“Jake Haldenwang & Hwy 61”, is a project fueled by the rich vocals of lead singer/harp player, John Haldenwang and the fiery leads of guitar sensation, Jake Haldenwang. Together they deliver a unique brand of scorchin' Blues, while blending traditional, Original, and progressive rock blues, with searing guitar solos, intense vocals along with a hard-driving rhythm section, they are a high-powered act. Jake Haldenwang & Hwy 61 hit the stage, in full tilt overdrive and will have your feet stomping and your heart pounding.
While combining a variety of traditional with original material, Jake draws inspiration for his high-powered gritty blues sound from artist such as; Johnny Winter, Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Bonamassa, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top and Cream.
Jake has played club dates and festivals through-out the south east, to include Charlottes “First Night, as the featured artist televised on Charlotte’s “NBC” affiliate “WBTV”. Jake has performed live on Rick Ballew’s “Smokin’ Blues” “Back Porch” radio show, as well as, performing at the legendary Double Door Inn in Charlotte NC. Additionally, Jake was chosen to perform at the 25th, 2009 International Blues Challenge, in the Youth Showcase by the Charlotte Blues Society. Jake’s rising popularity has established him as a sought after artist who’s popularity continues to grow.
Jake has also had the privilege of performing, on stage, with some great regional and national recording artists such as; the great blues legend "Buddy Guy",The Tommy Castro Band, Robin & Tony Rogers, Dave Fields, Blind Mississippi Morris, BB Kings All Stars, Bob Margolin’s All Star Band, Contagious Blues Band, Mac Arnold (former bass player for Muddy Waters) & Plate Full O' Blues, Rusty Barkley and The Part Time Blues Band,Michael Wolf & The Voodoo Brothers, Tommy Thunderfoot & The Accelerators and The Bill Miller Band.
