“'‘Harmony in Vengeance’ exemplifies the more solemn inclinations of Chemicals of Democracy, and their compositional talents take them just as far in the hard rock genre.'”

“One of the most satisfying aspects of going to a Chemicals of Democracy show is that you can get a complete understanding of the band's style, influences, and strengths from just one or two tracks. It's just put right out there -- an in-your-face onslaught of high-energy heavy instrumentals meets radio-ready rock vocals.”

“This debut album has been out in the US since December last year and now gets a UK release. The Chemicals of Democracy (COD) formed back in 2007 by Darrin Richards (vocals/guitar) and Greg Paradis (drums). Long term member bassist J.Q. and new boys, guitarists Scott Allan and Sammy Damaxx complete the band’s line-up. Chris Tsangarides is the producer, so you know it’s going to have a deep, metal sound to it. This is smorgasbord of fine metal riffs, brutal anthems and fist-in-the-air choruses. ‘Fire In The Hole’ recalls Megadeth at their peak, whilst ‘Driver’ and ‘Toxic’ are addictive metal songs of the highest order. This band have popped up with an accomplished and enjoyable metal debut. One for those that enjoy Megadeth, Avenged Sevenfold and Fozzy. ”

“Sometimes writing reviews is the best job in the world.......and this is one of those times. From out of absolutely nowhere, Chemicals Of Democracy have delivered an album of metal class that should see them shoot straight up the ladder. Not feeling the new Megadeth? Not loving Dave M's recent output and not looking forward to their new album? Have no fear, 'The American Scream' is here to fill your void. This album has been out for a good few months but is only just getting an official UK release and any thrash rock fan worth their salt should at least be giving this a very good listen. It may not be early, full-on peddle to the metal thrash but think of mid-day Megadeth era ('Countdown To Extinction' must have been a base for this album?) and this is where we find the angst, melodic-led leads and political angles that Dave Mustaine seemingly left behind. It's that good. Opening track 'Driver' is only a cautionary tale of what's to come with a slow building song that takes”

“Well, well, well, ..If it wasn’t enough to get Anthrax slamming their sound n couture all over Friday night, we now see them going head to head with American Thrash lords…Exodus..who now take centre stage for a double Thrash header which should blow the place to smithereens ….HF4 just seems to go on an all out… line up of destruction and seeing American Thrash Legends Exodus going on full assault with their Thrashtastic brothers only seems to sum up what’s going down at this years Hammerfest. On to this announcement we see us adding…. a Phoenix USA debut for Chemicals of Democracy, who Jonni’s new Rock agency Chic Talent, have been rigorously scouting out over the last 3 months, and now bring forward to their first UK performance albeit in front of the HRH / HF loyal. Joining them we have HF fav’s Arthemis and Scottish blood metalers Achren…all in all..another ballsy addition to an already incredible line up for HF 4. ”

“The next band to play was “Chemicals of Democracy“. They definitely had some fans in the house as they all lined up in front of the stage to cheer on the band. I did get a few shots shooting through the heads and shoulders of those fans. They were having a good time and the band was feeding their excitement. They did a nice job and I would try to see them again if I can make it to the stage for a clear shot. ”

“Chemicals of Democracy had an amazing set. You couldn't have asked for a better band to start the night off, as the crowd immediately gravitated towards the stage as the band ripped through Enemy, Judas, Toxic and Paradise. Richard Darrin has just a gruff enough voice to be able to smoothly sail in and out of the riffs perfected by guitarists Kevin David and Harrison Walters. Newest member, bassist JQ and drummer Greg Andrew kept the back end moving right along. Expect huge things from this band, as they are getting ready to go to England to have thier new disc recorded by Chris "CT" Tsangarides (Judas Priest, Anvil, Gary Moore, Thin Lizzy, Helloween). ”
