FEBRUARY SCHEDULE: 2/4 - Paige Clem | Ryan McCaffrey & Danny Eisenberg | Emily Yates 2/11 - Clem & Them | Sunshine Becker | David Gans 2/18 - Paige Clem | Cliff Goldmacher | Janeen Leah 2/25 - Clem & Them | Scott Nygaard, Paul Kotapish, Dan Gabel | Spun Hippo (Sean Hodge, Mike Meager, Neil Hampton) THIS WEEK'S ARTISTS: Clem & Them - www.clemandthem.com Roots-infused, deep grooves, rhythm & blues, body moves—hip-shakin' music forged to the soul-stirring songwriting prowess and vocals of Paige Clem. A San Francisco-based blues and Americana music project, Clem & Them's roots-infused music is warm and accessible, yet packs a punch with Paige's smokey, captivating vocals delivering a message of pain and redemption garnered through a life of love and loss. The band, Matt Amans (guitar), Marc Levine (bass) and Ed McClary (drums) has immense experience with blues, rock, and pop at the highest levels of stardom, yet as Clem & Them, they distill the grooves of American music down to the core of what’s necessary to deliver the perfect song. Scott Nygaard - www.scottnygaard.com Scott Nygaard is one of the most inventive and original guitarists in the bluegrass/acoustic music scene. His solos, a seamless amalgam of bluegrass, folk, and jazz influences, shift easily from breathtaking virtuosity to soulful melodic musings and his accompaniment is always intriguing, supportive, and propulsive. “Nygaard’s flatpicking is so fluid and clever the crowd keeps squinting at his hands, checking to make sure there are only two.”–Oakland Tribune. Scott was the guitarist with Tim O’Brien’s band, the O’Boys, from 1992 to 1997, and has performed and/or recorded with such acoustic music stars as Joan Baez, Chris Thile, Darol Anger, Jerry Douglas, Laurie Lewis, Anonymous 4, Matt Flinner, Bill Evans, Sharon Gilchrist, and many others, receiving numerous Grammy nominations for his stellar sidemanship. During his tenure as editor of Acoustic Guitar magazine, Scott authored hundreds of articles, wrote several books and produced instructional videos on music, musicians, guitars, and guitarists. Paul Kotapish - hillbilliesfrommars.com/kotapish.html Equally confident and inventive on every fretted instrument, Paul has distinguished himself on the stage for over 30 years. Paul is co-founder of the Celtic/Grateful Dead band, Wake the Dead. and most recently has made a name for himself with his concerts and recordings with Kevin Burke’s Open House, a headlining act in Celtic and international folk festivals across the country. His blazing guitar and mandolin work also help drive The Hillbillies From Mars, Sylvia Herold’s Euphonia, and other Northern California-based acoustic groups. Paul has performed throughout the United States and Canada -- from remote fishing villages in Alaska to Lincoln Center in New York City -- and has made several appearances on NPR's A Prairie Home Companion. Paul is also highly regarded as a creative and inspiring teacher and is widely respected for his work as editor and feature writer at Acoustic Guitar Magazine. Spun Hippo - https://www.facebook.com/SpunHippo Spun Hippo is Sean Hodge (guitar & vocals), Mike Meagher (bass & vocals), and Neil Hampton (drums). As individuals, they have years of experience in the San Francisco and Austin music scenes and fused their grooves in 2013, coming together to layer their original songs with interpretations of influential greats to create their core sound. Their growing repertoire of original songs cover a broad range of musical styles such as funk, rock, folk, bluegrass, and jazz -- sometimes all in one song! A band to dance to, Spun Hippo creates fresh soundscapes that are jam-oriented with one goal -- create good music! Spun Hippo is splashing in a river of blissful abundance and invites you to as well!

[Description] Tuesday Night's Songwriter Showcase hosted by February Songwriter in Residence, Paige Clem, featuring Bay Area Songwriters Cliff Goldmacher and Janeen Leah (bios below). Paige Clem - www.paigeclem.com Cliff Goldmacher - www.cliffgoldmacher.com Janeen Leah - www.janeenleah.com - All original music. - Never a cover. - food and drinks available. - ALL AGES! FEBRUARY SCHEDULE: 2/4 - Paige Clem | Ryan McCaffrey & Danny Eisenberg | Emily Yates 2/11 - Clem & Them | Sunshine Becker | David Gans 2/18 - Paige Clem | Cliff Goldmacher | Janeen Leah 2/25 - Clem & Them | Scott Nygaard, Paul Kotapish, Dan Gabel | Spun Hippo (Sean Hodge, Mike Meager, Neil Hampton) THIS WEEK'S ARTISTS: Paige Clem www.paigeclem.com Perhaps it’s the combination of her insatiable musical curiosity and her formative years spent growing up in the South, but Paige Clem’s arrestingly direct lyrics and velvety, unaffected vocals exude that most elusive of musical qualities — Soul. In her band Clem & Them, Paige's original material draws on threads of blues and Americana with an honest and often clever accessibility that offers listeners a refreshing departure from the formulaic nature of so much indie rock these days. With a natural gift for connecting with an audience, her roots-infused music is melodic and warm, yet packs a punch with tales of love and loss. When not performing her original material, she can be found singing as a member of the popular Grateful Dead tribute band, The Eleven, and along with other Bay Area acts. Cliff Goldmacher www.cliffgoldmacher.com In the music business for over twenty years, Cliff Goldmacher is a songwriter, producer, engineer, author and owner of recording studios in Nashville, Tennessee and Sonoma, California. Cliff has worked as a staff songwriter for a major Nashville publisher and his songwriting collaborators include multi-platinum selling artists Chris Barron (Lead singer of the Spin Doctors), Grateful Dead drummer, Mickey Hart, Lisa Loeb and Ke$ha. His songs have been cut by major label artists in genres ranging from country, pop and jazz to classical crossover. His music has also been used on NPR’s “This American Life” and in national advertising campaigns. He’s contributed a song to a musical on London’s West End and currently has a song on the UK dance charts. Cliff's song "Till You Come To Me" spent 27 weeks in the top ten on Billboard Magazine's jazz chart and finished as the Mediabase #1 and Billboard #2 jazz song of the year. Janeen Leah www.janeenleah.com Known for captivating audiences with her powerful, soulful voice and raw emotion…the stage is where Janeen truly shines. Music Connection said it best; “Leah’s pure, sweet, melodic vocals soared over a perfect blend of instruments as she performed each song, leaving the audience wanting more.” When Janeen released her self-produced debut album, ‘Time is Never Wasted’ in November of 2005, it immediately received glowing reviews and was picked as ‘Best Album of The Year’ by Morley Seaver at antimusic.com. In August of 2009, Janeen became an international artist when she flew to Bombay, India to record a collaborated album with Bollywood musician, Tushar Parte at Tushar’s request. In 2010, Janeen signed with indie label f. Boo! Music in Los Angeles with producer Keven Brennan. Janeen currently has 3 records under her belt and is storming the San Francisco bay area live music scene with her dynamic performances.

The Eventual Ukelele Superstar only learned to play both ukulele and banjo in recent times, yet she has quickly developed a notable roster of relatable songs with an equally impressive growing fan base to applaud them. Emily’s “Folk Punk” approach to song has been described as "Obscene. Profound,” and crowds find themselves unable to resist raucously singing along. Find out more about Emily at www.emilyyatesdoeseverything.com Ryan McCaffrey & Danny Eisenberg (Go By Ocean [formerly Acacia]) www.gobyocean.com Soulful singer-songwriter Ryan McCaffrey is lead vocalist and guitar player for Go By Ocean (formerly Acacia) who’s ethereal yet bold indie sound has been honed by years of live performances throughout the Bay Area, including a current residency at Phil Lesh’s popular San Rafael venue, Terrapin Crossroads. With a sound that ranges from radiant and inspiring to dark and mournful, Ryan’s vocals and soulful guitar paint harmonic pictures that support lyrics steeped in empathy and yearning, documenting struggles that evolve into hope. Ryan is joined by Go By Ocean keyboardist, Danny Eisenberg. A San Francisco Bay Area keyboard legend, Danny has toured and/or recorded with Ryan Adams, Counting Crows, Mother Hips, Jonathan Richman, Shelby Lynn, Tift Merritt and more.
