Clank

I've been producing Electronic Music for well over 20 years progressing through all kinds of styles and equipment (and name changes!). My first musical memory was some kind of drum machine that sat on top of an old electronic organ that my Mum played!

Since then many things have influenced me including artists such as 'Kraftwerk' and 'Jean Michel Jarre' and all kinds of music from Hip Hop to Dance to Classical; and in particular, Film & TV theme tunes, science fiction (especially robots!) and the noise and machines of the industrial area in Kent where I was brought up.  I now run 'Aloft Studios' with my wife 'dj ru' (Ruth) who is also a Producer and DJ and we produce tracks together as 'Combiner'.

The name 'Clank' was originally given to a robot character I had designed but eventually I chose this as my own alias. The name reflects the mechanical, industrial, robotic style of my tracks and also that I sample noises from all sorts of everyday objects and devices which are often metallic clanks. Over the years I have gone through various types of equipment but now mainly use a powerful PC with 'FL Studio' and 'Renoise' as my sequencers of choice. Although I have a host of soft-synths I prefer creating and processing my sounds using hardware such as analogue synths and guitar pedals to create an original sound. I have a vast ever growing collection of samples but always create specific sounds for each new piece of music.

As well as producing my own tracks I have remixed tracks for many other artists...  I am signed to 'DeepLife Records' and my music is available from various online stores including 'iTunes' and 'Beatport'... Also I am able to provide music for media such as TV, Web, Video Games etc  and have composed for various Film and DVD projects...  Please feel free to contact me if you require remixing or media-composition services...
