Bio
The quintet is led by former Ringling Brothers clown Peter Bufano who first entered the ring 22 years ago. He grew tired of the red nose and floppy shoes and traded them in for an accordion. Since then Bufano has composed 4 original circus scores and led the band in thousands of performances for circuses in the U.S. and abroad.
The group performs an original big top blend of Eastern European, Klezmer, gypsy, and jazz influenced instrumentals.
One is immediately reminded of a dark, creeping Nino Rota score to a Fellini film or at times an Astor Piazzolla tango.
The songs have been placed in television shows such as PBS’s “Fetch,” MTV’s “Wild Boyz,” NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” and the film “Circus Dreams.”

As group they've accompanied Circus Smirkus and the Bindlestiff Circus since they formed in 2004.The players in the group have also performed individually with such circuses as Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey, Circus Smirkus, Big Apple Circus, and Kinoshita Circus.
The group's 4 original scores for circus are on CD and available for download. The original tunes have gypsy, klezmer, and jazz influence and the Cirkestra's specialty is the creepy, minor key circus waltz. A few of their songs can be heard in television shows such as MTV's Wild Boyz, PBS's Fetch, a ducumentary called Circus Dreams, and NBC's America's Got Talent.
