In the 1950s,Chuck Berlin attended NYU Heights while he studied Jazz Piano at Juilliard with John Mehegan. After a bout with polio, he returned to music in Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Baltimore. In 1967, he played in New Orleans for almost 40 years, until Hurricane Katrina.
