About
Chris Whiting is fast becoming one of the Midlands leading singer/songwriters, creating catchy, guitar driven tunes and songs taken from every day experiences. Chris's songs are instantly accessible, with catchy melodies, and at the same time have a depth of songwriting, and often a sense of humour, that invites repeat listening.
A recent review described the track 'Please Forgive Me' as 'the swaggering Please Forgive Me, a stripped down rousing toe-tapper of a tune that'll have you hollering along in glee'.
Chris has has been writing and playing since he was about 10 and has plenty of live experience having, in his own words 'been emptying pubs and clubs around the West Midlands for 12 years'.
He played in several cover bands over the past 12 years and still gigs as a covers duo with his wife, Emma, as EMC2. His last band, Mound, recorded a s self-funded album for which Chris co-wrote material.
Chris gigs either solo, or with a small band with Mark on guitar, and Alan on bass and guitar, and additional percussionist for larger venues.
When he is not writing or playing, Chris works as a qualified accountant and is a part-time martial arts instructor with Chongshin Do, in which he holds black belt 2nd Dan - so is well placed to deal with hecklers.
As well as guitar, he plays keyboards and trumpet - though, he says, never all at once.
