Bio
Chris Hawkes is a native Texas singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer.
Hawkes can be described as a rock guitarist with a dynamic voice. Think Robert Plant to Chris Martin. His lyrics are meaningful, personal and straightforward.
When asked to describe his inspiration Hawkes noted
"My favorite part of creating a song is open expression of something very personal or getting a specific message across. Stepping back and going 'yeah... that’s exactly what it feels like' "
His drive for expression doesn’t end in songwriting. Hawkes also pours himself into each performance both recorded and live.
About
In 2007 Hawkes released a much anticipated solo effort "Guitar and Voice" with the single "Falling Into Doubt" featured on MTV shortly after the debut.
As you’d expect from the title of his first EP “Guitar and Voice”, the recording features solo acoustic performances. It’s an intimate moment between artist and listener as if he were singing the song directly to you.
Hawkes released a second independent album "Because I Feel That Way Too" in 2009. The album combines his singer-songwriter compositions with a more developed rock and pop fullband production. The sophomore release features a unique roster of Hawkes's talented musician friends. A variety of lineups create distinctintive textures for each song. The final culmination is a live recording aptly titled "House Jam". It features twelve of the fifteen musicians heard on the album celebrating it's completion.
Hawkes splits his time expressing such personal inner thoughts and emotions in his own material and in collaborations with other talented friends.
Working both as a producer and independent musician creates an interesting blend. “I feel extremely blessed to have my music, my relationships and creative energy all intermingle. It gives me so much freedom to express and constantly challenges me to bring something to the table. I guess it’s my job but it never feels like work.”
