“Choke the Silence, Friday, September 28 Papa G’s Blacklight Bar, 610 Marion St. NE 9 p.m., $3, 21+ Every once in a while many of us could benefit from attending a DIY garage metal or punk show performed by idealistic youth with big dreams, broken strings and shattered drum sticks. This show at Papa G’s looks to fit the bill with local alternative metal band Choke the Silence and thrash outfit Nuclear Salt slated to blast ear drums and energize some moshin’ friends and random passers by. Sure, the show will likely annoy some passers by as well (and maybe the bartender). However, at the end of Choke The Silence’s live track “End of Sorrow”, you can hear a concert attendee say, “finally, a real metal band!” Refreshing indeed.”
