Billy and Chojo met at a festival in 2001 and have been picking together off and on (more on now) ever since, culminating in a new CD "Texacali Blues".

Billy Bright and Wayne “Chojo” Jacques first met at the Wings and Strings Music Festival in Florida in 2001, where Billy was appearing with “Peter Rowan’s Texas Trio”, and Chojo was appearing with the “Waybacks”. After many late night motel jams, and shared gigs over the next few years, they developed a close musical relationship. In 2007 they decided to perform as a duo, and after a year of performing at clubs, house concerts, and festivals, Billy and Chojo have released their debut CD “Texacali Blues”, and have developed a reputation for a new and fresh interpretation of classic fiddle and mandolin tunes, quirky originals, and an engaging stage show that audiences and promoters have described as transcendent, hilarious, and one of a kind. Always a guaranteed good time, their show is a combination of virtuosic performance, humor, and an easygoing stage presence.
Billy first introduced audiences to his unique brand of acoustic music in the late 1990’s while attending the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston. Soon after, Billy began touring extensively with Peter Rowan in Peter’s “Texas Trio”, and later as a member of the Peter Rowan and Tony Rice Quartet. His excellent acoustic reputation has drawn the likes of Vassar Clements, Tony Trischka, Peter Rowan, Tony Rice, Yonder Mountain String Band, and many others to record and perform with him.
In 1973, Chojo started playing fiddle and mandolin with the “Lost Highway Band”, a country blues/rock band that toured extensively, and recorded several albums over the next 7 years. He also performed with icons David Allen Coe, and Johnny Paycheck, and over time, developed his signature sound and freewheeling style. After becoming interested in acoustic, bluegrass, and folk genres, he co-founded and performed with the Waybacks from 1999 through 2004. He has continued his collaborations and performances with artists such as Slaid Cleaves, Fred Eaglesmith, Two High String Band, Joe Craven, Devil Makes Three, and many others.
