Although hailing from Houston, TX, Chelsea Hotel has it's roots in the underbelly of the legendary '70's Cleveland and New York punk scenes.
Started by the infamous Robert Conn (Pagans, Defnics, Plague) and the booming bass rocker Jewels, Chelsea Hotel spreads their sonic guitar assault to the world.... I've seen this place numerous times, and often thought about how nice it would be to have some Punks play. Well, now that curiosity has been indulged, with some nice results......
Chelsea Hotel plays a classic New York 70's style Punk of the highest caliber. Of course it's somewhat mandatory when you're frontman is Robert Conn of The Pagans. Their set featured mostly original songs, with the full-on Dictators, Dead Boys, Cheetah Chrome sound nailed down with 100% authenticity. There were also a few covers thrown in that got the crowd screaming with excitement. From a few Rolling Stones numbers, to The Dictators, to "Chinese Rocks", and the one most anticipated of all, The Pagans. They played hard and fast for somewhere around an hour before finally bidding the crowd farewell with a hyper cover of "Paint It Black"
If you haven't checked Chelsea Hotel you need to. They're a great band, and great people too

We found out yesterday that The Onion is going to launch an internet radio site. The launch will be at the Chelsea Hotel/Down-Fi show at Lovejoys on Feb 23rd!!! This night is growing in to a great event... NO cover and some free beer!!!
