About
Chirasak Panphum was born in 1970, Udon Thani, Thailand. With great inspiration from his father who was a violinist of a small club in town, he dreamed to be a musician like others in the family. So, in 1985, he grabbed a guitar as his first instrument and headed to the south of Thailand with his brothers to form a band entitled “Cicadas” playing all kinds of music.
Chirasak moved to Bangkok in 1987 for a gig and performed on stage at international jazz festivals around the world with Thai famous saxophonist Tewan Subsanyakorn. Chirasak also featured in the recording entitled Tewan’s Novel Jazz in 1989.
Recognition came early from being a young studio musician and having featured as a guitarist and a producer in numerous recordings for many well-known Thai singers such as Poompuang Duangjun, Yodrak Salakjai, Tick Shiro, Um Amarin Nitipon, x3 Supper Gang, Aom Sunisa Sookboonsang.
In 1998, Chirasak released his first rock album called “Cat-A-Rock” under the Tero Record and became publicly recognized as a famous rock star who received the Season Awards for best male rock artist of the year.
In 1999, Chirasak released his second album called “Get Up Higher” under the Up-G, Gmm Grammy Record, and was the managing director of Mad Catz.
In 2000, his third rock album “Burn” was released and he truly established himself as best male rock artist and best rock song of the year from the Season Awards.
In 2001, Chirasak released his fourth album entitle “Awake” and again received the Season Awards for best male rock artist and best rock album of the year.
In 2003, Chirasak performed at his Tarm-Ra-Bieb-Rock Concert held at BEC Tero Hall, Bangkok, for his fifth rock album called “Disorder” and received his sixth award of best male rock artist of the year from the Season Awards.
In 2005, his sixth album entitled “Love, Greed, Anger and Passion : Episode 1” was released and he was once again a recipient of the seventh Season Awards for male rock artist of the year.
In 2006, Chirasak released his seventh rock album called “Catarock No. 7” and, in 2007, he made his special album entitled “All-In-One 1 & 2”.
Chirasak’s latest smooth jazz album was released on 29th October, 2009 entitled “You & Me” featured such great Thai pianist as Denny Euprasert, Ratana Wongsunsern and Teerapat Juntob.
