About
When I was young I started out learning the organ, graduated to the piano, and played my way through a music degree at the University of Alberta. It wasn't until later that I discovered the beauty of creating song through voice and guitar. Self-taught with both, I consider myself a bit of a hack, especially relative to the amount of time I spent with various teachers, working to perfect my classical piano skills. Despite this, I do think that I have cultivated a sound that works: allowing simple harmony to be the backbone for lyrical melodies. Though I love the piano, and I love to play classical music, and I even enjoy writing on the piano every now and then, there is something very intimate and soothing about the guitar: the way it feels, the way it resonates, the way it blends with other instruments and voice. Besides it's far easier to pack around!
In 2005, I released my debut recording Pieces of Me; a collection of songs inspired by my excessive journal writing. In April 2008 I released my second recording, Finding Grace; a collection of songs inspired by my attempts at love and poetry.
