“Jazz, blues and rock may be the basic descriptive hats worn by Carolina Jazmine members Seth Jones (vocals, piano, organ, bass, accordion), Doug Ornas (drums, piano), Geoffrey Wittine (brass, drums) and Jake Hegedus (guitar, bass), but these cats have a lot more happening beneath the surface. Or so the quartet hopes is evident on its new EP due out later this year. "We all grew up listening to Zeppelin and Floyd, and I brought in a lot of the jazz sound," said Jones, 20, a Parma resident. "It's a really big culmination. I would have never imagined a year and a half ago that this is what we'd be doing. It's a lot of fun. We hope the new EP shows a little bit more of where we're going. It's more of a mature sound compared to our first album, which is lot more raw. We definitely have an indie-rock feel." With a Beirut-meets-the National sound, the foursome has booked a free show at 9 p.m. Friday at the Wonder Bar, 2044 East Fourth St., Cleveland. Call 216-298-4050. ”
