Cap'n Lightnin' Jack began his piratical music career performing live sea shanty sing-outs at Pirates Cove in Josephine, Alabama and formed the band Salt Sea Pirates in 1987.

Capt Lightnin' Jack performs live sea shanty sing-outs at festivals, boozin' kens or just about anyplace where a shanty seems appropriate.

At past performances, mates unfamiliar with the lyrics to the shanties would always say that they would have sung if they had the words to follow. So Capt. Lightnin' Jack came up with shanty song sheets. Distributed among thousands of would be shanty singers, even lubbers find themselves swaggerin' and singin' along as if they were deep sea sailors rounding "The Horn".
