The Candy Coated Killahz come crazy, banging out heavy-hitting crowd-pleasers. With gritty rhymes and bouncy pop hooks, they tear up the scene like a dancehall siren, skillfully pulling together the tastiest elements of hip hop, electro-pop, and dance anthems.
CCK's producer and front girl, Tosha Dash, aptly describes the Killahz sound as “a dance-off between 2Unlimited and the Black Eyed Peas, refereed by a naughty saw synth.”
The Toronto duo released a limited edition 6-song sampler, “Bloodsugar: The Mixtape” in August 2007. The disc serves as an appetizer to the group's much-anticipated debut full-length release ‘It Factor', set for release in May 2008.
Tosha Dash is the beat-making whiz kid behind the Killahz sound. The classically trained pianist and multi-instrumentalist began honing her digital music production skills several years ago and hasn't looked back since. With her cheeky vocals and seductive charm, this German-Jamaican bad-girl hits the dance floor hard, drawing widely from inspirations like Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopez, 90's dance anthems, trip-hop and beyond.
Her partner in crime is Nigerian-born Icon the Anomali who brings his lyrical savvy and buttery voice to the duo. Also a talented screenwriter and a visual artist with a signature style of illustration, his musical style parallels his grimy, playful comic book creations.
The two began writing together while working at a downtown Toronto restaurant. Now, they also head up the government-and-donor-funded music production program Beats.Mind.Movement, at UrbanArts Toronto. Under the direction of Tosha, the program targets at-risk youth in the North York area and has already merited a visit from Michaelle Jean, Canada's Governor General.
Candy Coated Killahz continue to gain momentum, tearing up clubs and car stereos with booty-rockin tracks and remixes from DJs across the globe. Be sure to catch them live in concert for a danceable, sweatable, unforgettable night!
