Ladies and gents, hold on to your butts.

We have an INSANE weekend of stellar shows for your listening and viewing pleasure STARTING TONIGHT!!

As you read this weekend's lineup of bands, imagine the sound of that awesome jam that the Chicago Bulls used to use back in the '90s (when Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were the shit) as they announced the starting roster:

Thursday, April 18: Space Capone

Friday, April 19: The Love Language

Saturday, April 20: Snarky Puppy

Thursday, April 18

Space Capone

10 p.m., $7

“There’s an open question as to whether it’s harder or easier for smooth white dudes to make inroads in R&B music. If you ask Robin Thicke, it’s not so easy. If you’re following the career of Nashville’s Space Capone, you might think it’s a breeze. The local press is smitten with Capone’s highly danceable, ’70s-style grooves and thrift store retro style, and the national media is starting to catch the vapors too, as Capone was recently featured on TBS’ entertainment program Sound Check.” -Mark Mays, The Tennessean

Friday, April 19

The Love Language

w/ Gross Ghost, Jenny Besetzt

10 p.m., $5

"The Love Language, initiated by Stuart McLamb, is a fortunate by-product of the North Carolina native's rudderless mid-20s, where a tempest of breakup, inebriation, and incarceration found the abandoned songwriter embarking on a storage-space recording project to slow his seeming disintegration. 'To me, Lo-Fi is almost an anti-aesthetic, where you're more interested in capturing the energy than spending your own energy on figuring out tones. It's more about "Let's capture the moment." Among the moments captured on his Merge Records debut are Spector-esque walls of reckless sound, cavernous drums, middle-school percussion, and moody swells of stringed instruments, all decorated hastily with stray leads, which bleed beautifully all over everything." -mergerecords.com

Saturday, 4:20

Snarky Puppy

10 p.m., $12

"With the release of their live, 2-disc album/DVD "Tell Your Friends" (Ropeadope Records), Snarky Puppy has gone from an underground secret to one of the most internationally respected names in instrumental music. The 3-time Dallas Observer Music Award winning group ("Best Jazz Act" 2008, 2009, 2010) has, over the last four years of touring, gained a reputation for putting on a live show unparalleled in energy, virtuosity, and musicianship. They seamlessly fuse a deep knowledge and respect for musical tradition with sonic and conceptual innovation in a way that is able to reach the most critical- or most carefree- audience.

"Snarky Puppy is somewhere between a garage band and a collective, with over 25 players in regular rotation. The core of the group, which remains consistent, features Grammy Award-winners Robert "Sput" Searight on drums (God's Property, Snoop Dogg) and Shaun Martin on keys (Kirk Franklin, Erykah Badu), as well as young organ prodigy Cory Henry (Kenny Garrett, Kim Burell) and multi-instrumentalist Louis Cato (Marcus Miller, Q-Tip, George Duke). Its members are mainstays with artists like Erykah Badu, Marcus Miller, P Diddy Dirty Money, The Polyphonic Spree, Snoop Dogg, Roy Hargrove's RH Factor, Morcheeba, Tower of Power, Ari Hoenig/Adam Rogers, Justin Timberlake, Kenny Garrett, Yo-Yo Ma, Lucy Woodward, and Bilal, among many more." -Snarky Puppy bio
