Hey Saloonatics, We've got a mega-hot week of music for you at Boone Saloon
starting TONIGHT with the inimitable and unstoppable Mike Dillion Band. On Thursday,
February 21, horn-powered New Yorkers Izzy & The Catastrophics will help you
tear up the dance floor, along with local opener Carly Taich. And last but not least,
our friends Naked Gods will headline a stellar three-band bill this Saturday, February
23, that includes Charlotte-based outfits Yardwork and Great Architecht. It's going to be a great
week. Read on... Monday, February 18
$5 (seriously, $5 to see
this band is a steal)
About The Mike Dillon Band: Born in Texas and based in
New Orleans, Mike Dillion is a super badass percussionist, vibraphonist,
bandleader, vocalist and songwriter. He's played with a few people you might have
heard of (Critters Buggin, Ani DiFranco, Les Claypool, Galactic, Dead Kenny Gs,
Garage a Trois, etc...) and is currently leading his own band of fearless musicians,
tearing it up nightly as they blaze through a very Dillon-esque blend of funk,
punk, jazz and rock. Watch Mike and trombonist
Carly Myers work the vibes HERE! Thursday,
February 21 About
Izzy & The Catastrophics: This Thursday will be the third appearance by
New York's Izzy Zaidman and his band of misfits. Their combination of smoking hot
lead guitar guys are jaw dropping musicians and put on a show unlike anybody playing
the Saloon these days. With a pair of horns, an air-tight rhythm section and Izzy's
smoking guitar playing, these guys tear through honky tonk, jazz, Latin grooves,
'50s rock and r&b, blues and pretty much anything you throw at them, and they
always have the dance floor cooking. DON'T MISS THIS BAND!! About Carly Taich: "The
North Carolina native has been compared to coffee, as her writing style satisfies
the familiar yearning for a morning
buzz. Carly’s beckoning voice demands
her honest lyrics be heard, later to be sustained in the listener via infectious
melodies. Take a sip." Watch Izzy and the boys get slightly freaky
on some funky Latin grooves HERE!! Listen to Carly Taich
(along with a cast of local musicans) live from Straight Street HERE!! Saturday,
February 23 About
Naked Gods: Derek, Christian Chris Brian and Seth will rock your pants
off. Any questions? About Yardwork: "On
a stage, the band is a delirious frenzy. Whether playing to an overstuffed living
room on a warped and bowing wood floor or to a crowd of college kids in Raleigh,
Yardwork’s incandescence is contagious. They sweat, and the crowd sweats.
They sing, and the crowd sings. If they don’t know the words, they sing and
yell wordlessly, swept into the tide of Yarwork’s boundless positivity. And
when it’s done, you feel lighter, freer. You feel better." -Bryan Reed About
Great Architect: Great Architect was formed in Charlotte, North Carolina, in
2009, as an improvising group intent on exploring the fringes of all musics with
an urgency and focus reflective of the modern condition. Great Architect includes
members of Yardwork, Joint Damage, Blossoms, Black Congo NC, US WIldlife and Ghost
Trees. Watch Yardwork live at Treasure Fest HERE! Listen to Great Architect
