Two-time Grammy nominated, Kim Richey continues “The Charleston Listening Room Series” at The Circular Congregational Church on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 8 p.m. The Series is an ongoing joint project produced by Awendaw Green and Suncoast Promotions.
Richey is a storyteller; a weaver of emotions and a tugger of heartstrings. Tender, poetic and aching with life’s truths, Kim’s songs transport listeners to her world, where words paint pictures and melodies touch the south. And then there’s her voice. Pure, arresting and honest, it makes you take notice.
Early on, she thrived on the progressive side of mainstream country, her albums showcasing a rich, rounded vocal tone and effortlessly sophisticated songwriting that other discerning performers – Trisha Yearwood, Radney Foster and Pam Tillis to name a few – coveted for their own recordings. Most recently, Kim’s latest release, Rise, includes an array of top-tier artists including Jason Isbell, Wilco’s Pat Sansone, My Morning Jacket’s Carl Broemel, Will Kimbrough and Yearwood.
Mac Leapheart, a Charleston favorite with his hit song “Confederate Roses” will be opening the show. Leapheart’s 2010 release, Line, Rope, Etc. was chosen as one of the best albums of the year by The Charleston City Paper.

Chris Trapper and A Fragile Tomorrow at the Palmetto Brewery Loading Dock Stage April 19, 2014 Join Palmetto Brewery and Awendaw Green at their Loading Dock Stage at 289 Huger St, downtown Charleston. Doors at 6:30 show at 7:00 $10 in advance/$12 at door $5 Pints available/limit 3 per person. Tickets: Chris Trapper A Fragile Tomorrow CHRIS TRAPPER began his career as the front man for late–90’s alternative rock band THE PUSH STARS (Capitol Records). With four CD releases and several high profile national tours – including a run with Matchbox Twenty – The Push Stars served to establish Chris as an authentic talent. The New York Times calls his work “classic pop perfection.” As a modern day singer–songwriter, Chris is most known for his song THIS TIME, the Number 1 selling song on the Grammy nominated soundtrack for AUGUST RUSH (Robin Williams, Jonathan Rhys Meyers – Warner Bros Pictures). The new CD (released October 18, 2013), Technicolor, is a collection of 17 songs written and performed by Chris Trapper. This new work was Produced, Recorded, Mixed and Mastered by Brad Young at BKY Music, Boston, USA. Focus tracks include the title track Technicolor and Northwest Sun and The Accident. A prolific songwriter, Chris can boast high profile film placements including There’s Something About Mary (Ben Stiller, Cameron Diaz), The Devil Wears Prada (Meryl Streep), Say It Isn’t So (Heather Graham) and Gun Shy (Sandra Bullock, Liam Neeson) as well as significant television placements including All My Children, Women’s Murder Club, Malcolm In The Middle, a coveted placement in George Clooney’s final episode of ER, the theme song for WB Networks dramedy Pepper Dennis and a cameo on–screen appearance with the show’s star, Rebecca Romjin. Chris Trapper’s music can best be described as lyrically driven roots–pop with a knack for telling everyday stories filled with extra–ordinary characters. A Fragile Tomorrow has become one of the most respected band of brothers on the road, largely thanks to their venerable work ethic, stellar musicianship, and fans in high places. The four-piece band is comprised of identical brothers Sean and Dominic Kelly, their younger brother Brendan, and Shaun Rhoades. In 2006, the band released its debut album, “Wishful Thinking.” Early 2008 brought the world "Beautiful Noise," the band's second record, which was produced by Grammy® award-winner Malcolm Burn, producer for such industry luminaries as Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, and Patti Smith. Years of hard work and determination started to pay off in a big way in 2009. They went into the studio, with singer-songwriter Danielle Howle as producer, to make their third record “Tripping Over Nothing,” which features contributions from Amy Ray of Indigo Girls, singer-songwriter Susan Cowsill, and legendary musician Peter Holsapple. Sean and Dominic also made an appearance on Indigo Girls’ 2010 live album, “Staring Down the Brilliant Dream”, as well as Amy Ray’s 2012 solo release, “Lung of Love.” Starting in 2010 and continuing through recent months, AFT joined Indigo Girls on tour in various cities, including a show in their home base of Charleston, SC in early 2011. As 2011 started to wind down, the band was invited to their West Coast debut as touring openers for The Bangles. Shows at well-respected clubs like House of Blues and legendary venues such as The Fillmore in San Francisco made the West Coast a successful new market for the band. More high-profile gigs followed throughout 2012, as the band shared the bill with Antigone Rising, Garrison Starr, Drivin’ and Cryin’, and Matthew Sweet respectively. While opening for Sweet on his celebrated “Girlfriend tour,” one Massachusetts critic proclaimed AFT as “everything that is right with music.” A Fragile Tomorrow’s genre has never been easy to pinpoint, as the band uses the cities, musicians, and cultures that they come across while on the road as inspiration for their songwriting. Fans have compared their music to the likes of Teenage Fanclub, The Smithereens, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Big Star, The Jayhawks, The Lemonheads, The Posies, and more. Artists such as Indigo Girls, The Bangles, Matthew Sweet, K's Choice, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Antigone Rising, Garrison Starr, Blues Traveler, Catie Curtis, Continental Drifters, Danielle Howle, The Cowsills, and Mark Bryan of Hootie and The Blowfish have invited AFT to tour and share the stage over the last few years.
