Friday May 3rd - No Justice with Tyler and the Tribe Opening

No Justice

 No Justice

Since 2005, the name No Justice has become a familiar fixture on Texas radio, charting seven Top 10 singles and a pair of No. 1s in only a four-year span. During that time, the five-piece from Stillwater, Oklahoma also became a polished touring machine, playing nearly 200 shows a year and every square inch of roadhouse in the Lone Star State and then some. After recording three albums and building up a formidable grassroots following, No Justice lead singer and guitarist Steve Rice realized that even a state the size of Texas has its borders. It was time for No Justice to introduce themselves to the rest of the country. By late 2009, the group had landed a new record deal, partnered with a veteran artist manager and made the decision to record their next project, called Second Avenue, in Music City, USA. The band’s Country leanings were certainly a fit for Nashville, says Rice, while the No Justice sound had developed over the years into a well-balanced compound of roots, red dirt, country and blues. “We’re honored to be associated with the music and those legendary musicians from Texas and Oklahoma,” says Rice. “We have a strong connection to our fans down there. No Justice is a diverse band that’s been inspired by a lot of different artists, and because of that, we appeal to just about anybody, from 5-year olds to 50-year olds, from cowboys to punk rock chicks.

I didn't get into music early enough. I mean I was a fan, just not a musician. After a few years of songwriting and a few more as a frontman as well as a backup singer and lead guitar player in a couple other bands, I did an album at Ft. Worth Sound. The EP is just a brief glimpse of the early stages of my writing development and this project known as Tyler and the Tribe. Now I have my own studio and I'm working on a full length album with Jordan, Heath, and Colton who have played in various other bands and are recording their first album with me. I love these guys and I love playing music with friends. Who knows what will turn out but it should turn out fun. Come see us live sometime if you like what you hear.

The Night Mothers

The Night Mothers

Alex Ruiz has been writing and performing since he can remember. As a teenager, he honed on writing and playing gospel on guitar and piano. He has since fronted many bands and has proven his longevity in the world of entertainment.

He has fronted and performed with the band Del Castillo since August of 2000, as one of the principal writers. Del Castillo has been touring extensively since 2004. The band primarily plays latin world fusion, and it has been received worldwide. Del Castillo is now on its tenth year and 7th album.

In February of 2008, Alex worked with Del Castillo and great artists such as: Joe Ely, Ray Benson/Asleep at the Wheel, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Raul Malo, and Carlene Carter among many, on the PBS special feature “The Outlaw Trail”. This special TV taping was filmed at the famous Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas, and featured music that pioneered the spirit of the old west.

One of Alex’s favorite accomplishments was to be personally invited to write and perform for “Voices of a Grateful Nation”. This project was put forth by Charles Gallagher and Jamie Oldaker (former drummer of Eric Clapton) in support of the homecoming troops.

Within the last ten years he has recorded with artist such as Willie Nelson. The song recorded was  “I Never Cared for You”, which has now become Willie Nelson’s favorite version. Most recently he has collaborated with Willie Nelson, Carlos Santana, Los Lonely Boys, Mana and many other well known artists on the compilation, “Project of Love”, in memory of Cesar Chavez and dedicated to the spirit of the labor workers from Central and South America.

Alex also fronts the famous movie soundtrack band, “Chingon”, with director/producer Robert Rodriguez. His voice, songs and persona have been featured in such films as: Once upon a Time in Mexico, Sin City, Kill Bill 2 and  most recently, Machete.

The most current project, “The Night Mothers” is an Austin – Texas based all original Americana-Rock band. The band consists of Alex Ruiz, Albert Besteiro, Jeff Plankenhorn, and Elias Montemayor.

The latest album ‘Sunrise’ was recorded in Bloomington – Indiana at Airtime Studios. The album was produced by Gary Katz – famous for his work with Steely Dan.
