The Queen of Alone is ready for the Ball...

But wait.. how do you go to the Ball and remain alone?

That is a very good question.

The masks will help...

So yes, we've just finished another video (yes another video), and will be Premiering it at Myth Masque on June 9. www.Mythmasque.com.

Queen of Alone explores the archetype of alone, isolation and unrequited love.

It is a beautiful piece with photography by Jean Renard, video by Allyson Laquain, http://vimeo.com/user688559, and edited again by boy wonder Logan Heftel, loganheftel.com.   Jean's photography features castles all throughout Europe, including a crumbling Knight's Templar fortress.

The extraordinarily magical image was created by Jeffrey Fetzer, www.thefetzerface.com, and Marika Soderlund-Robison, costume designer/stylist.

Far fewer credits on this piece, as it doesn't take many to make one feel alone, lol.

We have another beautiful show coming up this Saturday in preparation for the set at the Ball.

An have I mentioned my talented guest vocalist?

Joseph Newhouse, who is lending his background vocals to the Esza Kaye show, has a soulful retro-harmonic band called Windows to Sky. www.windowstosky.com.  His upcoming show, Tales of the Extraordinary at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, is a 1920's radio serial style comedy with live music by the band, and a wonderful chance to go see him.  There are three dates in June-- see windowstosky.com for all the details.

What can I do about all this you ask?

  • Go to Mythmasque.com and get some tickets!
  • Go to Facebook and like eszakaye
  • Go to iTunes and buy her latest album Tinged With Machine

Hope to see you on June 9!

Much love and mischief,

Esza

"Esza Kaye's new EP is intriguingly played electronica with some superlative vocals. The opening title song recalls prime Garbage though is perhaps more industrial in its ruminations on being human in an age of machines. "Deeper Shade of Shallow" pokes fun at those who think they know what it means to be deep. It has a lovely melody that undermines its theme well. Kaye's siren vocal is teasingly perfect. "Katy Come Out to Play" is a neat love song with S/M-tinged imagery. It has a nice club ready groove with added sauciness. "Lick My Boots" is a fitting and fun closer as Kaye sings some provocative words with a fittingly careless attitude. It's Siouxsie gone to a club. Its's a wonderful EP in all." — Anna Maria Stjarnell, Luna Kafe

"Once again I'm amazed by Esza's voice and melodies. This time the machines are infiltrating-- which only adds to the mood. In the title track, the production by Bruce Somers successfully blends the beauty of her voice and lyrics with post apocalyptic android, creating the perfect sound track for any futuristic movie makers out there. I cant wait to hear this loud on a dance floor, it will most likely take me into another world."  — -Nick Launay, Grammy Award winning Producer (Arcade Fire, Yeah Yeah Yeah's)

"Musically, Esza Kaye conjures a futuristic, sci-fi-scented, post-apocalyptic world, yet her emotions are still very real on her new record. She aims for the gut with her vocal candor and sharply etched lyrics that peek though and above the sweetly programmed, dreamily cosmic textures. She sings of runaway technology in "Tinged with Machine'' (talking about how our will is "hard wired invisibly''), but also the perils of relationships in "Deeper Shade of Shallow.'' Her honesty may make some people nervous, as in the brooding treatise of gender-bending love ("Katy Come Out to Play'') and the fantasy-flecked "Lick My Boots.'' Kaye is no stranger to dealing with darkness -- just read the bio on her website -- but once again she emerges triumphant with this creative slice of electronica. It is highly unusual music that isn't for everyone, but it's worth a walk on the wild side.''    — -- STEVE MORSE, longtime music reviewer who was a staff critic at the Boston Glo
