SPECIAL SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT FROM Jim Patton & Sherry Brokus
|
Who: Jim Patton & Sherry Brokus, John Cronin When: Thu
Jan 17 2013 @ 07:30 PM Where: NeWorlDeli, Austin, TX
|
Hey Austin friends: Come see us Thursday
night. No cover, great
food, friendly waitstaff and owners. John Cronin (Ian Tyson) on guitar. We'll probably
sing songs about our friends, family, long term relationships, and voices in our
head, all with harmonies to break your heart. Songs from all three of our acoustic
albums (one still unreleased) and probably a couple from the fourth one, due in
a couple of years. If you haven't
seen John play with us before, he's not only a close friend, but he's a world class
guitarist who brings a unique voice and perspective to our songs. He's playing with
us in Annapolis, Maryland (his hometown as it once was ours) and in Philadelphia
next month, and then we'll all be back in March for our Not SXSW shows. Thank
you once again to those of you who pledged your support to us during our Kickstarter
campaign. You don't know how much it means to us. Although we did not reach
our goal, what we've done now is move the campaign to our website/blog where we've
set a more realistic opening goal, between $2-3000 for the CD cover, manufacturing,
and an updating of our website with new press material. Then we'll go to work on
the promotion and whatever we get, that's how much we'll have to work with. We already
have over 50% of what we need for the CD and another $800 stipulated to go straight
to promotion. If you'd like to help
us out, here's the link:
Thanks
for being such good friends and supporting us and our music. Jim & Sherry

"Patton’s theme is characters
trying, often failing, to draw the card that will make everything all right, but,he
reveals his ace in the hole with the closing I Turn To You, on which Brokus affirms
that at the end of the day, they’ll always have
each other." — John Conquest, Third Coast Music Magazine
"Polishing
the various guises of coupling most honestly and authentically ... Ray of Hope doesn't
sugarcoat and doesn't wander, qualities often underrated in songwriting and performance" — Margaret
Moser, The Austin Chronicle
"“Plain, simple, unadorned, unpretentious
lyrics and singing that weave their tales of universal life, love and woe with the
slyness of Hemingway and the convoluted depth of William Faulkner."
" — John Hammel, Homegrownradionj.com
