Greetings friends,

Hope you are all well!

Just returned from the Folk Alliance in Toronto, CA where I had the opportunity to  play several showcases with some very talented Toronto musicians. Martin Van  Deven joined me on clarinet for my official showcase and pictured here with me (note the new, pink capo) is Rachel Capon, originally from the Province of British Columbia.  She is classically trained and plays with her husband Eli in a cello duo called Hale and Hearty.  Check them out at www.haleandheartymusic.com.

It was a wonderful gathering of Folk music from many countries, including the UK, Canada, South America, Switzerland, Australia and the US.  One highlight for me was seeing Judy Collins perform. Originally from Denver and an East High School graduate,  she has become a folk icon and still sings beautifully, demonstrating to all present "how it is done".  I'll never forget it.

Below is my good friend and radio promoter, Bill Wence.  He was at FAI with his beautiful wife Kathy.  Bill has been in radio and the music business (songwriter and musician) for over 30 years.  He has helped me to chart on Americana radio along with  Alison Krauss, John Gorka,The Civil Wars and T-Bone Burnett, the Dunwells, Buddy Miller, John Hiatt, Lucinda Williams and Mary Chapin Carpenter.  It is pretty amazing!  He's a real nice guy, too.

NEWS:

Tune in Monday, March 4th at noon for KRFC live at Lunch program on 88.9 FM radio.  Anna Leavitt will be joining me on cello.  We'll be playing songs from the new album and some old favorites. Go to www.krfcfm.org for live streaming if you are in a place and have time to do so.

We will be playing Saturday March 9th from 7-9 PM at Miner Pickin in Idaho Springs with David East

and Thursday March 14th 7:30-9:00 PM at Swallow Hill cafe.  See schedule below for details and directions.  See you soon.

Blessings,

Mary Beth

PRESS

"Fresh Sounds in the World of Bluegrass Mary Beth Cross' Beyond Good and Evil Singer-songwriter Mary Beth Cross weaves bluegrass, folk and Americana on this album, featuring original tunes, and African Spiritual, and some covers like The Gershwins’ “Love Is Here To Stay”. Inspired by the spirit and grit of the pioneers, Beyond Good and Evil is a tribute to the melting pot America has become and what we treasure. (Produced by Dave Bechtel & Mary Beth Cross) www.marybethcross.com"  Taylor Coughlin, IB magazine

"What is so compelling about Mary Beth's music to me is that it both educates and moves me. Her love and understanding of the struggles of the people for whom this great country was founded creates compelling stories. For her to tell these stories that so few have ever heard gives a voice to those who were born in a time when not everyone was treated as equal. This reveals Mary Beth's compassionate heart."  Dave Bechtel Producer, Chuck Whiting Publicity

"Story Telling seems to be nearly a lost art these days among the multitudes of overly produced pop performers. This collection of beautiful recordings Mary Beth has culled togerher not only shows remarkable song sensibilities, but the inspirational and gentle voice that blends perfectly into the complimentary instrumentation. It's delightfully poignant and artistically gratifying."   Gary Pigg Singer, Nashville recording Artist, Chuck Whiting Publicity
