Do you know the feeling when there is something in
the works, you can feel the pressure rising, a little bit of fear, as you have to
push through obstacles to reach a new horizon? That’s about what’s happening
right now… I am thrilled in the truest sense of the world. In a few days
Sabine (bass), Michelle (violin) and me – the core of the Tribe -are flying to Austria to play at the Vienna Blues Spring Festival.
A lot of preparation has gone into the Tribe’s first international journey,
and it wouldn’t be possible without the support of some great friends and
Tribe members – you know who you are!
The first show is in my home province
Styria at the Blue Garage on Sat April 20th. Here are the three event
pages of our shows (if you can’t access them for any reason, check out the
date section at the end of this newsletter – thanks)
Like the Ulrich Ellison Music Fanpage
for the chance of winning 2 tickets to your show of choice! (Sorry guys, plane ticket
not included!!! )
One of the daring parts of this trip
is that we might end up giving up our apartment in Vienna – one of our last
ties to living in Austria. That feels a bit strange and frightening, especially
that we can’t even be sure if we get our visa extended. What if we have to
go back and all our stuff is gone? I feel for anybody that is homeless or has been
homeless. It’s special to be able to choose where to live – and in our
case, comes with big obstacles.
Here comes the fun part: we are
planning to shoot our first music video – in a medieval castle! One of the
advantages being from Austria has is to have access to those. Here is a pic from
our goal location:
The shooting will be done by the Austrian-based
video company rockvideos.at You can check out their Youtube page here.
As the name suggests, they rock. The song in mind is called “Leaves Keep Falling”
and hasn’t been recorded yet. It will be part of the Tribe’s debut record
which we will start recording in may/june. It will have our best material from our
current live set plus a few new ones. But before that we will release “The
Tribe - A night at The Saxon Pub”. Tribe members can already download the
audio of that night at. www.patronism.com/ulrichellison.
Here is a draft preview from that show:
