Hello Music Lovers!
It occurred to me that I haven’t sent one email out in 2013…I promise I have not forgotten about you!  So, let’s catch up a little…

NEW RECORD:
I released an album in the spring called "Key to My Cage" you can stream/buy it here: www.michaelkirkpatrick.bandcamp.com.  In support of my new record, I performed at SxSW in Austin, TX, The Bluebird Café in Nashville, TN, my favorite Cascadia venue: The Black Dog Theater in Snoqualmie, WA, and here in northern Colorado at The Bellvue Bean, all to beautiful, enthusiastic audiences.  I appreciate the support you have given me, I would be NOTHING without my loving audience!

SONGS:
While in Nashville, I got a chance to write with one of my Guitar Hero’s and good friend: Stephen Mougin of Dark Shadow Recording and the Sam Bush Band.  I attended my second Planet Bluegrass Song School in Lyons, CO last month where I put the finishing touches on some new tunes and collaborated with some fellow song-smiths from around the country.  Co-writing is a new passion of mine, listen for these new compositions in my live show and perhaps on the next record.

DISTINCTIONS/BRAGGING RIGHTS:
The good people of my hometown, Fort Collins, CO, voted me “Best Singer-Songwriter” at the FoCoMX peer awards in April.  In June I received an “Honorable Mention” at the Telluride Troubadour competition, out of 500+ songwriters nation-wide.  In August I was ranked #4 most played Colorado artist on 88.9 KRFC and ReverbNation has ranked me #1 on the charts for Singer-Songwriters in Northern Colorado.  Brag, Brag, Brag!

SHOWS:
Some of you have had the pleasure of catching my band The Holler! here in Colorado this summer.  We have been playing to some incredibly packed houses and enjoying great moments with our new drummer: Peter Knudson.  Check out my show schedule below for Solo performances as well as The Holler!, including our mini-tour to Minnesota in late-September.

HELP!—HOUSE CONCERTS!
I have decided to book more House Concerts as they are better experiences for me and the audience…socially, sound-wise and the fun factor.  I would love your help in referring me to house concerts around the country.  Also, if you have never hosted a House Concert and would like to try one out with me, please contact me at kirkpatrickmusic@gmail.com we can work out the details for a great show in your living room or backyard.  I’ll be in Tennessee in October, the West Coast in November and the Rocky Mountains in December.

Peace and Love through Music!

PRESS

"Key To My Cage only reinforces the level of influence and contribution that Kirkpatrick has provided throughout the music scene of Northern Colorado and demonstrates his remarkable multi-instrumental versatility. The charisma contained in Kirkpatrick’s shows is difficult to ignore, both as a solo artist and as the frontman of The Holler"  Charlie Anderson, The Scene Magazine

"Perhaps no other Northern Colorado artist can claim the notoriety of a one Michael Kirkpatrick. If you ask somebody for a bluegrass concert recommendation in Ft. Collins they will likely steer you to his band, The Holler!—which is completely disconcerting because although he does play mandolin (not ukelele) the similarities end there. I suspect some day I’ll get a call from 20th Century Fox asking me to consult for his biopic about what they will hopefully call “the NoCo years.” I suggest that title because Michael’s life in this community has seen him rise from playing guitar in bands and throwing parties in barns to performing on multiple instruments, building a stellar solo set, leading bands, arranging, playing studio sessions for national artists, and all the while camouflaging his operatic performance training, an asset that makes him an ideal contemporary showman."  Andrew Schneider, KRFC MusicShare

"You can't go partway on a mustache. It can't be subtle or modern; and if you try to be ironic about it, you'll come across as a douche. Fort Collins, Colo. musician Michael Kirkpatrick, wisely, has made his most glorious of handlebar mustaches into his calling card and logo, and I'll be damned if he doesn't pull it off."  Kate Whittle, Missoula Independent
