First
the nominee, now the finalist...
Earlier this year we were honored to be nominated for
Outstanding Blues Artist in the 2012 Detroit Music Awards. In October we were also
able to add to that "Finalist in the 2012 Detroit Blues Challenge". What
an amazing collection of the finest blues musicians in town! I think pretty much
any band could've won without anyone complaining - the music was THAT good. We send
our hearty congratulations to Lady Sunshine & the X Band and hope they win the
International Blues Challenge in Memphis! We also appreciated the comraderie of
the other bands there - Chris Canas (& Angie!), Dale Robertson, The Motor City
Kings, etc. This community is truly BLESSED to have such great talent around.
Triplet-Powered!
Our backing band these
days is really cranking. We deeply appreciate the energy and artistry of Jake Burdock
on lead guitar, Leland McCann on drums, and Kenny Szymanski on bass (with my son
Josh waiting in the wings for another opportunity now that his broken arm is healed).
These guys really help our music come alive for you.
Learn Balance, Daniel San!
Remember Mr. Miyagi's words
to Daniel in the movie "The Karate Kid"? Balance is the key to life, and
it's key to this band, too. We all have day jobs, families/friends, other interests,
and so we try to keep things in balance by playing out twice a month and practices
as needed. It seems to be falling into a nice rhythm a this point, as we are booked
out for the next five months solid using this pattern (taking time off in December
for family...and maybe mixing... more on that later). In the meantime, here is what
is coming up in November & December 2012:
Thu Nov 8 @ 7:30pm - Delta Twins take
the stage at the Hard Rock Cafe in Detroit,
with special guest Four Block Empire opening up the evening. This event is designed
to benefit Forgotten Harvest, so instead of a cover charge we ask you to bring $5-10
worth of canned goods to help those who are in special need at this time. We've
all got some love to spare, right? Let's DO it.
Sat Nov 17 @ 9:00pm
- Delta Twins head back downtown to perform at Harbor House (right
on the edge of Greektown). It's a regular haunt of some of the cities best musicians,
and our honor to kick out the jams for y'all there. There is no cover charge, but
the food is EXCELLENT... so come hungry.
Sat Dec 1 @ 7:30pm - Bob & Tom
strip it down for an evening more acoustic in nature at the Quarter Bistro
in Ann Arbor. We'll be assisted by Nick Klaver of Four Block Empire on
lap steel and some electric guitar, too. It'll be nice to get back out to A2 for
an evening.
2013 is already filling up, including a 250-seat theater
in Hillsdale in February and a return to Trinity House Theater as well. For
the complete list of events, check out our calendar at events.deltatwins.com
As always...LOVE WINS!
Bob & Tom - the Delta Twins
