Hey friends, family and fans!

Hope everyone’s May is off to a great start!

The weather is getting warmer, the smiles are getting bigger, my favorite season is almost here…summer!

Around here in Boulder, a pretty official kickoff to summer happens every year on Memorial Day: the BolderBoulder 10K race! Each year, local radio station KBCO puts together a compilation of local music, and offers it as a free download to the runners and to the public. I was honored to have my track ‘Smoke & Brown Whiskey’ chosen to be the first track off of this free album! Take a listen here and get your free copy of the complication album!

A few days after the BolderBoulder, Jamie and I will be trekking across state to open for the one and only Hayes Carll at The Wright Opera House! We’d love for you to join us for THAT party, whew!

Got a few other shows and appearances coming up this month and in June; would love to see you out at one of ‘em!

Thursday, May 8 at Kettle & Stone Brewing, Boulder, CO: Tina and Jamie duo show; our first time at this new brewery out in Gunbarrel. Colorado is the Napa Valley of beers and I’m sure Kettle & Stone is another amazing addition to long list of award-winning breweries!  The Verde food truck will be parked outside, too, for your dining pleasure. We’ll get started around 6p; free show!

Sunday, May 11 at Oskar Blues Grill & Brew, Lyons, CO: I’ll be playing a show with a trio of ladies I’m a part of, The Ginger Roots! Come out and celebrate mom on Mother’s Day, from 6 to 9p, with some sweet and spicy three part harmonies! Free Show!

Saturday, May 17, KGNU Honky Tonk Heroes, Boulder, CO and Worldwide: We’re excited to be guest DJ’s once again with our good pal Big Daddy Dan on your favorite front range honky-tonk show. Tune in from 6a to 8a (yep…that’s right…A M!) to hear Dan, and then yours truly from 8a to 9a; we’re spinnin tunes, yall!

Wednesday, May 21, Songwriters Series at St. James Episcopal Church, Wheat Ridge, CO: I’m proud to be hosting again this songwriters series which features some of the best local talent on the Front Range. Our featured songwriters for the month of May are Jamie Mitchell, from Denver Colorado, and The Ginger Roots, from Lyons, CO (…yep, I’ll be singing at that, too!)  Reception at 6:30p, show starts at 7p! Free show, donations appreciated.

Monday, May 26, at the BolderBoulder 10k, Boulder, CO: We’re excited to be playing along the race course at this year’s BolderBoulder 10k footrace! A local tradition and nationally loved and acclaimed, the BolderBoulder draws folks from all over the world for one large Memorial Day Party! If you’ve never been to or run the race, I would suggest getting yourself involved, cause it’s awesome! Kristina Murray trio will be playing towards the end of the race course, from 7:30a till 9:30a. Bring your breakfast, come say hey, and cheer on the runners!

Saturday, May 31, at The Wright Opera House, Ouray, CO: …opening for one of my songwriting heroes…Hayes Carll! Jamie and I will play our opener set before Hayes’ solo acoustic set. We’re excited to play up in the high country and to open for such a modern country legend! Get your tickets early and make a weekend out of it. Time: 6:30p; tickets $25, online.

Sunday, June 8, Wild Bear EcoArts Lounge, Nederland, CO: Join us for a relaxed summer evening up in the mountains of Boulder County. Kristina and Jamie duo show, 7p, $10.More info coming soon.
And of course,  I’m at The Attic Bar & Bistro every *other* Tuesday hosting Boulder’s best open mic; this month: May 6, 20, and June 3. Come have a beer and share a song!
Much love and Happy May!

"Kristina Murray's honeyed vocals and bright guitar style can be deceiving on Unravelin,' especially as conduits for angry tirades and tales of all-night benders. But her vocal artistry tempers words that can feel like parodies of old-fashioned country-and-Western lyrics...But there's more to this album than a C&W ingenue simply following traditional cues. The eleven tracks reveal a vocalist and guitarist with a distinct style. Murray's spirited vocals...deliver a passion that goes deeper than simple stories about booze and breakups."  A.H. Goldstein, Westword

"Kristina Murray has a voice that purveyors of ‘Wal-Mart country’ would love to get their filthy, nasty hands on. But Murray’s too honky-tonk and too whiskey-soaked to be the soundtrack of the next Chevy truck commercial....the disc is classy and well arranged from start to finish. From shit-kicking country rockers to pedal steel-rich ballads, Murray follows on the cowboy booted heels of country’s classic ladies like Emmylou Harris and Tammy Wynette with grace and just a little bit of attitude."  Brian F. Johnson, Marquee Magazine

"Honky Tonk darlin', Kristina Murray...The music is simple and not elitist, has a bouncing beat perfect for dancing...Murray nails honky-tonk music. While the album is more diverse than a tribute to honky-tonk — her sound spans Americana — one can imagine her playing in the corner of a smoky bar while dancers kick up dust and drinkers slam down shot glasses. [On] the record, she hired on a band of stellar country musicians to accompany her gorgeous-without-being-too-pretty voice...."  Josh Johnson, The Denver Post, Hey Reverb
