Greetings from the Amber Waves Band, featuring the
Hello from our home state of Colorado! This is a far more timely
newsletter than the last few. We are working on a summer and fall tour, as well
as looking into ideas for next year. With this in mind, we need your help! We
would love to hear from you if you are in, or have connections to, an area where
we plan to travel.
What Have We Been Up To?
Since the last newsletter
we traveled through San Antonio and on to Lake Texoma for Easter weekend, where
we played a show for Lake Texoma Thousand Trails RV. A few days later we dropped
the bus off near Brownwood, TX so friends would watch over it, and our ornery bus
cat, while we were away. Everyone piled into the minivan along with all of the
instruments, the sound system, clothing, laptops, ice chest and a dozen stuffed
animals. It was quite a sight.
been such a blessing! (Ok, aside from the excessive snow.) First stop was Durango,
where we visited Michael's mother and family. Durango's Cowboy Church was kind
enough to host the band for a concert after their monthly chuck wagon dinner. We
were slightly delayed due to the snow, but made it to Denver in time for all of
our engagements, including a wonderful time playing at Grace EFC, our Colorado
home church in Longmont. Oh, how we miss it when on the road. We did not plan
ahead enough to catch any photos or video, so if anyone reading this managed to
get any, we'd love it if you would forward some this way! Sadly, the weather also
forced a cancellation for our time at the Cowboy Church at Rinn Church in Erie.
Lord willing, we'll catch them next year.
in Denver we had the opportunity to participate in a test session at Denver Open Media
. The session was digitally recorded, including
some video that may be used during a bluegrass session of First Friday on March
3rd, on Denver Comcast 57. They will have a live band in the studio, but will need
some prerecorded segments, and some of this material may be included in that.
Here is one video from our session: New Name Written Down in Glory
If you see a letter in your area and would like
to host our band for a show at your church, community event, or even a home concert,
please let us know!
It seems a bit odd to
already plan on 2014, but with so many places booking a year or more in advance,
we need to get started if we hope to change routes next year and head towards the
west coast. We have a tentative map, pictured above. We welcome any leads or suggestions
to make this tour happen!
