Greetings from the Amber Waves Band, featuring the
a wonderful Christmas and Winter Season down in the far south of Texas, we're
parked up on the border of Texas and Oklahoma for the next week, before we head
towards Colorado for a couple of weeks. Don't forget to check the schedule
on our website
to find out when we'll be in your area!
What Have We Been Up To?
We spent a wonderful
Christmas season in Rockport, playing Christmas music for RV parks, assisted living
centers, and churches. After a great time at the Rockport Gospel Festival we headed
towards the Rio Grande Valley for the rest of the winter. During our time there
we developed an all new show with an entertaining variety for the Winter Texans,
including a trip through Classic TV themes
and Duelin' Banjos "girl-style"
. It was a big
hit and we had some great audiences.

video run-down, you can find it here
- After a few weeks in Colorado in
April, (without the bus) we will return to Texas for a few more weeks in May, playing
around the eastern Dallas area. If you would like to book us for an event during
that time, let us know!
- At the end of May we'll head up to Branson, MO
for a short trip, playing at the Youth in Bluegrass at Silver Dollar City, as
well as a nice RV park in the area for Memorial weekend.
- Holton, Kansas
is the next stop, where we'll visit with old friends and play some fine gospel music
for a few shows.
- After Kansas comes Ohio! We have some RV parks and a Gospel
Festival already scheduled in late June through early July, and we're working like
mad to fill up more!
- By late July we head back to Pennsylvania and enjoy
some RV park programs before heading through to northern New York in August. So
far we have gospel programs for a church and even an ice cream parlor lined up
there. Mmmm... ice cream. More ice cream parlors should offer music, don't you
- How about fall? We'll be back for Labor Day in Pennsylvania, and
on to Virginia where we'll make a slow fall trip down the eastern states on our
way back to Florida by November, where we'll offer our Christmas music set in December!
In Other News
have a few changes going on with the band. First is an overall direction in our
music, with the intent of adding more variety, largely in various folk genres.
This will include everything from American historical music, to Irish, Celtic,
and others. Bluegrass is naturally a big part of American folk music history and
will still maintain a big role in our sound, but the twins have a passion for other
styles from history and cultures that they are eager to include.
has now taken over most of the booking for the band so Cheryl can begin a new
online business interest. She will still be in charge of most of the social networking,
promotions, and contracts, but Michael is the main contact for scheduling.
is working on a website/blog
to promote family music, with a series
of eBooks and/or self-published materials for parents of children of all ages.
It is still a work in progress so check back in a few weeks to see the new additions.
is working hard at her cartooning skills in hopes of launching a band-related
cartoon series. We're so proud. We can't wait to get the bumper sticker that says,
"I am the proud parents of a banjo playing cartoonist!"
is still in charge of our promotional materials and is designing the logo for Cheryl's
site, a "Potato" mascot, and is learning what she needs to redesign the
web sites for all of the above.
We're thinking ahead
to a new CD, perhaps this fall if God should provide. The music is already chosen,
minus 3-4 originals, but there are still decisions to be made about location,
financing, and more. This is something we've put on our prayer list and we'll wait
to see what God has in mind.
