Happy Thanksgiving from
The Amber Waves Band, featuring the Costello Family
It would
seem our newsletters got away from us over the last year as we found our traveling
feet, but Thanksgiving is a great time to send an update and to thank everyone
on our fan page and newsletter lists for the wonderful support over the past year!
Free Song Download!
In honor of November as National Adoption Month, we have made
" Forever Home - A Prayer for Adoption"
free to download. Cheryl wrote this specifically for Mary to sing, inspired by
her dear friends who have adopted children. It is a song of a little girl crying
out in prayer on behalf of other children in search of a "Forever Home",
and reminds us of James 1:27, where we are reminded of the responsibility the Christian
has towards widows and orphans. Please feel free to pass the above link
on to friends.
What Have We Been Up To?

Can you believe it
has been nearly 11 months since we packed up Benny the Bus and left Colorado? God
is faithful and we have had a wonderful opportunity to keep that bus moving, and
the music playing. During that time we have played at some great locations, ranging
from small church outreach concerts, RV parks, busking at farmer's markets, county
fairs and even a balloon festival! You can view a map of our travels so far, with
pictures and brief descriptions by clicking on the link below. 2012 Costello Family Travels
Summer was a bit slow, taking time out in Colorado through June to play
in Fort Collins for their Streetmosphere, the Rocky Mountain GospelGrass and the
GospelGrass on the Divide, plus family visits and a graduation party for the
twins. In July we played for a "LauraPalooza"
event in Minnesota, full of Laura Ingalls Wilder enthusiasts! We treated the attendees
to our versions of Old
Dan Tucker, Roll on Silver Moon,
Highland Mary, Arkansas Traveler, and other wonderful tunes from the Little
House book series, with a bit
of historical reference thrown in.
August
and September we did a loop of the Mid-West and Great Lake region, playing
for RV Parks and a church concert series, finding our way to Pennsylvania
and Virginia by October! There we played for a homeschool group, more parks
in the area, and the Joshua's Hands ministry. Of course,
we took time out to visit Independence Hall in Philadelphia,
and toured the National Mall while we were in the area. Late
October was a special treat as we headed to North Carolina to play for
the Carolina Balloonfest!
In
No vember we found ourselves in the beautiful state of Florida.
Although we have not quite rounded out our first year
of travel, we held our final our celebratory vacation a bit early
with a trip to Disney World. The kids have been speaking about Disney
World as a goal for the year, but tickets are, as you can imagine, not the
most logical expenditure for a young band just starting out. To meet
this goal, we found locations for the kids to play informally, usually
busking at farmer's markets or other locations that would appreciate some music
and would donate to the Disney cause. Some of the
highlights included the Madison, WI Saturday farmer's market, Winston
Salem, NC Farmer's Market, and the First Friday in Brunswick, GA! At
times the weather was hot, other times cold, windy, with tired voices,
and fingers, but they got their Disney ticket money and we had a blast for
four days in the park! Ways to Connect If you
are on Facebook, please consider going to our Facebook page and clicking
the "Like" button. The newsletters get lost in the shuffle when we are
busy, but the facebook page is updated frequently. Every now and then something
new lands on our youtube page too, so please check in there or
subscribe.
What's Next for the
Band? Sunday
we head towards Texas, playing as we go! We'll stop off at the Hilltop RV park
in Alabama on Monday to play a show for the residents, then we'll head on down
through Mississippi and Louisana, landing near Woodville, TX to play for the Christmas
and Gospel weekend at the Triple Creek RV park! After that we'll spend some time
near the Colorado River, polishing up our Christmas music set before we hit the
ground running in Rockport, TX with 6 Christmas shows in one week! After the Rockport
Gospel Festival in early January we will settle for the rest of the winter in Harlingen,
TX where we have multiple shows scheduled for the winter
throughout the Rio Grand Valley, which will include some new material, such as
our medley of old TV themes! If you're in the area, you won't want to miss Michael
singing the Ballad of Jed Clampett or Mary singing the theme from Mickey Mouse
Club. Did you know there are lyrics to the themes to the Dick Van Dyke show and
the Andy Griffith show? Alex and Sean will sing them for you, along with Michael
and Cheryl on Green Acres! Sounds like fun, huh? We're already booking
for next spring and summer, so give us a call or drop us a note if you'd like to
host the band. April we'll head back to Colorado briefly, then north Texas for
much of May, ending in a trip up through Arkansas and Missouri by the end of the
month, over to Tennessee and Kentucky in the early summer, Pennsylvania, and Lord
willing, a trip through New England by late summer. Fall we'll be in Virginia and
the Carolinas again, landing in Florida by late fall. Happy Pickin', and don't forget to wave at
Benny if you see us drive by!
Many Blessings, The Costello Family
