Sarah Packiam

Sarah Packiam announces the release of her first EP titled “Dream”, which features five original songs tracked live at “Cutting Cane” studios and produced by Grammy Award winner Tim Mitchell (Bob Seger, Gloria Estefan, Jon Secada, Shakira). The album was recorded and mixed by NY based music engineer, Dave Clauss, whose credits include Shakira and Wyclef Jean. The 'Dream" release party will take place on Friday May 24th at Bardot’ with a special performance of Sarah Packiam and her band.

In order to capture the raw essence of her live performances, the tracking process utilized very few overdubs in the creation of this EP. The core band, consisting of drum-cussionist, Andy Russell and bass player, Steve Argy, were tracked live in one room with Sarah Packiam. The result is an electrifying blend of pop, folk and rock. Overdubs feature keyboard/piano player Albert Menendez (Shakira and Alejandro Sanz), while Olgui Chirino (Shakira) sings background vocals. It’s an honest and genuine approach to the five new songs, four of them co written by Tim Mitchell, George Noriega (Ricky Martin), Jodi Marr (Mika) and Olgui Chirino.

“Dream” is an extension of Sarah’s music influences, The Carpenters, Stevie Wonder, Sting and Weather Report. The five songs enhance the texture of Sarah’s sultry voice.  She invites us in with her alluring melodies and inescapable storytelling.

Sarah was born into a Musical family and grew up in a variety of locations and a mix of cultures. This Irish-Indian artist was originally brought from Spain to Miami by Grammy-winning singer songwriter Jon Secada as a recording artist with his Production company.

Calling Miami home now, Sarah and her band have opened for such acts as Smashmouth, Jason Mraz and the little River band. She also enjoyed the experience of singing backing vocals with Shakira. You can find Sarah performing locally with her band in Brickell at Balans every other Thursday as well as all over Florida. "the EP is pure pop that wears its indie-Americana aspirations on its rolled-up sleeves."  — Ben Crandell, Go Guide SouthFlorida.com
"This nomadic multiculturalism certainly seems to inform Packiam's latest EP, 'Dream'. The title track hops along with soulful glee and still retains some of that Irish charm, sounding like it wouldn't be out of place along side the likes of Eddie Reader."  — Urban Kelt
