Howdy! It's
hard to believe that this Friday will complete 3 years of happy and not-so-happy
hours at Flipnotics. Thanks to all of you for supporting the cause througout
the years. 2012 was great year bouncing back after my broken leg which took
me out of a lot of 2011. Here's a list of highlights, lowlights, and ball
shots from 2012 - produced "Hope, Pray, Fail"
comic for Austin Music Weekly during SXSW (FXFU!)
- rocked Laurie Gallardo
and Austin Facial Hair Club's SXSW party at the Grackle with a special lineup, the
Bearded Clams!
- played lots of dirty dirty shows at Jovita's before they
got busted. they had the best staff!
- played the Cactus Cafe with Navasota
String Band and the Whiskey Shivers (this was a big night for the Whiskey Shivers
as well as they played with legendary bluegrass picker, Ralph Stanley, right before
rushing over to play the Cactus!)
- recorded with the mythical beast that
is Ron Flynt. Don't go there. Cousin Bill, I love you dearly!
- played
one of the strangest shows of my life at Strange Brew with some great friends(Jacob
Jaeger, Kelly Galvin, Bluebird Specials)! South Austin, represent! That
was interesting, we should maybe do it again.
- finally went on the road and
played in Oklahoma, the Marbrigde Ranch, somewhere near Wimberly (I think), and
Salado. Round Rock, we're coming for you in 2013!
- became a wedding
band, we're cheap and damn good so keep us in mind! Congratulations to Carlos
and Jess!
- our Samhain Special went viral on Youtube and had to get
a penicilin shot
- MC'd the Whiskey Shivers "Hawg Falcon Variety
Shows" at Antone's and got to tell variations of my Bill Cosby joke over 10
times! Hey! Hey! Hey! Here what I say! That's OK!
- Debut
of "Honky Tonk Holidaze" musical and comic raised over $1600 for Austin
Pets Alive! Friends were made. Good times were had. Good deeds
were done, and a few dirty ones as well...dirt cheap, I imagine. Is there
really any other way?
I'm
sure I'm leaving out a few shining moments, but one thing is for sure: none of it
would be possible without your support! Thank you for doing what you do. We
love you all for coming out to shows and having fun with us. Let's ring in
2013 Flipnotics-style this Friday! Griffus P. Spliffus
will be performing on his silly-string-shooting slide guitar and Jacob
Jaeger will be sitting in with us on guitar as well! Cheers to a
great year in 2013! See
you Friday!! WB
"With Wild Bill, you don’t just get a folky, mellow acoustic guitar show.
At a Wild Bill show, you, as the audience, experience an all-out blast of demented
good times, sordid tales with intriguing finales, extra flourishes and personal
touches that only a tripped-out troubadour like Wild Bill can conjure. All that,
and deviled eggs. You have to see it to believe it." Laurie Gallardo,
KUT radio
"Audience participation, stand-up comedy,
Darth Vader masks: you never quite know what to expect at a Wild Bill show. Flipnotic's
provides the perfect room for Bill and his crew of collaborators – this round
he’s flanked by Griffus P. Spliffus and Amandalin - to present their catalog
to an appreciative audience, one that enjoys the onstage banter just as much as
Bill does (well, maybe). There ain’t a father to his style, folks. The man’s
just a true Austin treasure." Austin Music Weekly
"Sitting down with Wild Bill
is kind of like meeting a virile cross between Jackie Gleason and a surly, pre-Scientology
Beck for coffee and realizing you might have been better off with a beer or two
instead.
