Matt Harlan
Houston, TX
Hey y'all,

So far, in the short time I've spent in the Houston music scene I've gotten to play some of the coolest and most historic venues in town. Equipped with just a guitar or backed by a rotating cast of characters I've haunted stages from the intimate-yet-legendary Anderson Fair and the red-velvet Continental Club to the reverberating House of Blues and so many joints in between. And although I've spent nights at the world-famous Fitzgerald's, twirling in the country haze laid down by Robert Ellis and The Boys on Whiskey Wednesdays or skankin' along to Los Skarnales, I've never played a note inside those rockin' walls. All of that changes on Saturday.

Thanks to an invitation from local up-and-comers, the Second Lovers, I'll be banging out some tunes for a free show (for those 21+) THIS SATURDAY at Fitzgerald's! Along with the Lovers we'll have fellow Houstonians, Yello Echo and Austinite, Emily Wolfe  to flesh out the evening. And since it's a band show I'll be joined on stage by Rachel Jones (vox), Steve Candelari (drums), Corey Power (guitar) and Keith Polk (bass). But the fun doesn't stop there! We'll be raffling off prizes like brewery tickets and a craft beer basket (w/ choice suds from St. Arnold's and Buffalo Bayou). Everyone gets a raffle ticket at the door, plus you can score extra tickets by RSVP'ing on the event page, buying merch or throwing down a few extra bucks at the merch table. But tickets are limited. Here's the lineup...doors are at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm! See y'all there!

"This is the kind of sharp observation and literate writing that make Harlan’s songs such a pleasure to listen to. Folky, but with a little Texas twang, Bow’s nine songs, most either written or co-written by Harlan, are brought to life by his gentle, expressive voice. They also benefit from the skilled backing of The Sentimentals, a Danish band with which Harlan has performed on both sides of the Atlantic." — Paul T. Mueller, Americana Sun

"There’s a fluid self- confidence to his writing that at times comes close to matching early Dylan for a clear-eyed description of the world as he sees it." — John Davy, Flying Shoes

"Matt Harlan’s “Bow and Be Simple” braces seamless storytelling with equal measures hope and hurt." — Brian T. Atkinson, Austin American Statesman
