And for the Chicago friends,  after his sold-out City Winery debut in April, Ian Maksin will be back with a brand new collaboration on June 21!  This time we will be joining forces with the premier Chicago flamenco band "Las Guitarras de Espana".  They will present a brand new program of unique fusion of classical, flamenco and world musicunified by the Ian Maksin’s cello playing. It will range from intimate solos by Maksin and small duo and trio numbers to the culminating performance by a full 10-piece band, including flamenco dancer, Wendy Clinard and Senegalese tama (“talking drum”) player Mamadou Diop. Besides original compositions as well as traditional and folk songs from Spain and Cuba, Maksin and Las Guitarras will perform some of their own renditions of works by such classical composers as Granados, Albeniz, and de Falla.

PRESS

"Sexy is an understatement when you describe the music and dance concert Tango Obsession, featuring iAN&ANi Duo..."  Worldview, NPR National Public Radio

"The duo's innovative and passionate performances of classical music with dancers and multimedia struck me as particularly fascinating..."  Allegra Montanari, Chicago Classical Music

"When the cello and piano duet started, my eyes were immediately drawn to the vivacious expression on Ian’s face; the solemnity of a dedicated musician and performer showcased his pride, his undivided focus amalgamated the cello with himself, his ebullient aura led the melody for a seemingly ocular dance! Ani turned to look at Ian periodically while playing the piano. She couldn’t see his face since his back was facing her, yet I sensed the intangible communication floating through the air. Her mien appeared to be rather buoyant, in contrast with Ian’s trenchant demeanor, adding a harmonic counterpoise to the duet."  Richard Chiang, Prestige du Monde Magazine
