Mary Johnson Rockers and the Spark
Durham, NC Americana / Folk Rock / Singer Songwriter
|
Dear friends, For
me--and probably for many of you--this summer was a whirlwind of exploration and
growth. I'm welcoming the quiet pauses that autumn brings, rare chances to reflect,
culminate and share amidst the extra layering and fire-gazing. During the past few
months, we've played festivals and benefits, taken music on the road--including
a solo show in Wyoming (at the gem called Lander Bar), and worked out new songs
that I now present to you! Come see us at our next show at the Pinhook
in downtown Durham on Sat. November 10- joined by Down River and the Swang Brothers. As a thank-you for continuing to support our music through
all seasons, the band and I invite you to download new songs from our Reverb
Nation site: "Send a Letter" (cowritten by former bassist Ken Peterson),
"Slow Loving" and live recording of older tune "Ruby"--all
recorded live at the Local 506 in May 2012. You can download these for free
from the homepage, but if you click on the ReverbNation store links below
and purchase them, I'll send you an awesome shiny Mary Johnson Rockers and the Spark
logo sticker designed by the Merch (Carrboro, NC) for your
bumper, water bottle (they are waterproof), or wherever your heart desires to place
it. Just send me a private message with your mailing address and the # of downloads
you purchased. By donating through your downloads purchase, you'll help us get to
Asheville this winter for our mountain tour! Thanks again to the 4 amazing musicians I am so lucky to perform
with, and to the fans who listen and love. Happy layering! Mary

"The songs are so catchy, well-written and eclectic that, at just over 30 minutes,
it feels as though it's over before it's begun...nearly irresistible.
" Chris Parker, The Independent Weekly
"Cline, Parsons, Lou-Harris.
All there. Just great, roving Americana with pipes to spare.
" The Pinhook, Durham, NC
" Chapelboro is graced to have so many
wonderful musicians and we ought to be talking about the people who live here and
who make great music. Here is one of them – Mary Johnson Rockers." Chapel Hill Magazine
